Someone elsewhere said you were after Lyall Cameron so that we can have Tait and Lyle in midfield...can you confirm Jamesy...?

We had that last season, the boy with the syrup moved to Falkirk.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

5 transfers done before end of May is excellent work, and huge credit to JG and the club on the early business. Whilst finishing bottom 6 was not a good season, it makes you wonder if the early certainty over not being in Europe might have helped the club this year: the budget and how we can "sell the club" to players is a little clearer. Wouldn't be surprised if there's more signings to come in the next couple weeks also.

Much rather he went there than either of the uglies thats for sure. I was harsh on Luca when he gave away a rash penalty against motherwell in the cup, but he well and truly shut my puss since then. The lad was fantastic for us and his latest interview where he talks so well about his time at United was brilliant. Forever endeared to the club and has more than earned his chance to move upwards with his career. He leaves us with the utmost respect from the fans and more than a touch of sadness.

Well done young man, onwards and upwards. Once an Arab always an Arab!

What’s annoying is it’s the same fee we got for Moller, and we pretty much know Ferry will be away, likely for 7 figures.

Spending money’s always a gamble, but the gamble’s lessened when you’re signing a guy with a top attitude and who’s a consistent 7/10 every week.

I get what you're saying, but the lad wants to move his career forward and who can blame him? The days of only ever playing for Dundee United are sadly long gone. I can see Luca doing an Andy Robertson tbh and ending up at a top club via the English championship.

I see what your saying but would have had no chance competing with Bolton on the wages front giving how much Dalby is on and they've just been promoted.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Haven't read it myself but apparently Alan Temple suggesting that our early transfer movements hint at a formation change. My question is,and always has been, why does a manager only sign players to play one formation no matter the occasion, conditions, opponents etc? Wtf is wrong that we can't have some flexibility? Why cant professional players adapt to different formations as the season progresses? More importantly why can't our manager do the same? A whole lot of change and improvement needs to happen in my opinion

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Luca was a cracking player for us, but 700k is too much for a club like us to spend on him in the current climate, even if we could compete. The fee alone could cover the wages of 4-5 players (for the first year anyway)

He'd sign a 3 year deal and if he was good enough the arsecheeks would just wait until his contract was up or it would be heavily weighted with a release cause.

We changed formation regularly in 24/25 to be fair. Last season was the only one he seemed to be welded to 3 at the back. Like it's been said in previous posts, that was very likely to do with the fact that our best players best positions were as wing backs. Stephenson and Ferry are both wasted in a back 4, and when you look at their output in a wing back role, it makes sense he wanted to stick with it.

If he'd signed some actual fullbacks then Ferry and Stephenson could both have played further forward. But I get what you're saying,it was actually me that mentioned Ferry being his reason for sticking with the wingbacks. I just dont understand why he threw all of his eggs into one basket, a basket with a hole in it.

But of course, its done now and there's no point worrying about the past. I just hope he's learned his lesson and has a spare basket and another hen for the coming season.

I think the signing of Tait is a clear indication we’re changing systems. He doesn’t make any sense in a midfield 2. I’d like to think it’ll be to a 4-3-3 rather than a 3-5-2, because then what would be the point in signing Randall, but Goodwin does have a fetish for 3 at the back so you never know.

I do think a midfield 3 of Sevelj sitting with Agyei as a box-to-box disruptor and Tait getting on the ball and playing passes into the half spaces for Randall, Sapsford and whoever else to run onto, would dominate most other midfields in the country.

I hope along with a formation change we see a mentality shift from the manager to actually be the protagonist in games and try to win games based on what we can do to dominate the opposition rather than basing it on how we can spoil the opposition’s plans. Falkirk and Motherwell showed how you can do this, but I think our manager is too welded to his negative mindset to ever think like this.
