Good solid players

No idea on the ozzy and nz players but fingers crossed.

How many do we sign? Was it 15 leave? It wont be that many as we will use the academy to fill some of those roles  - maybe 5 or 6 more? Assuming we dont lose the likes of ferry, eskesen etc

Good point about the squad balance.
The arrival of new players from Oz and NZ will definitely give Sapsford a lift and they are usually very positive hard working types.

I do think Ferry will leave, the big question is who fills those big boots. Not sure Naamo can do it but if - IF - if we go 433 that's a possibility.

Know nothing about Tait, honestly can't even remember his contributions against us this season but Falkirk fans seem to love him.Β  Delighted to have Walton back.Β  Yes, he has a mistake in him, all keepers do and his kicking is not great but overall a steady keep which is what we need after this season's calamities.Β

Redford. Easiest way to check is what month is he in the united calender 🀣 if its after August, hes a stick on to stay 🀣🀣

I think he will go - and good luck to him - hes been great for united - we just need ti be compensated correctly for him. Getting a full cap and his end of season form will have a number of clubs in for him and hopefully, a bidding war.

I wouldn't be surprised if naamo is sold - if he has a good world cup, he will be off too.

Infact, does naamo play against the kiwi striker?

If ferry does go (which i think he may do), then we need a replacement brought in. I’m sure Jim will already have one in mind.

I agree with this. I don't think Goodwin trusts Naamo 100% and he wouldn't be a like for like wingback with a good cross on him.

We need to be bringing in proper full backs in my opinion, especially if Ferry goes. Maybe Ferrys strengths are Jim's weakness? perhaps thats why hes been so reluctant to change his system?

Proper full backs, 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 get it done!

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

We must be moving towards a 4-3-3 next season. You can’t play Tait in a midfield 2, even Goodwin wouldn’t be that stupid, you’d get absolutely overrun. He’ll be on a hefty wage for us to have beaten English teams to his signature, he’s not gonna do that to them give him the Eskesen/Babunski treatment.

I think he’ll be a transformative signing, his progressive passing stats are way in excess of basically every other player in the league. He’s also the most fouled player in the division which tells you something.

A midfield 3 of Sevelj, Agyei and Tait will run over the top of most teams in the league. There’s no reason we have to resort to the hoofball tactics again next season.

If Ferry does go, which I assume he will, I’d go and raid Falkirk again for Leon McCann.

Not posted all season but transfer windows are much more fun so here we go...

I agree, I think the key reason that Goodwin stuck to the back 3 this season was that moving to a back 4 basically nullified our best player in Ferry. He isn't a left back, he's a wing back.

In the likely event he leaves, I hope we sign a more traditional fullback. Maybe even one that can fill in at LCB too. Naamo can play either fullback positions as cover as well.

With Tait in the door, a midfield 3 with him alongside Sevelj and Agyei could be really effective in a 433 system. We might even see Eskesen shine in a system like that.

A promising and "no messing about" window so far, but I still think we need up to 8 in the door on top of what we've got already signed.

1x Goalie (backup to Walton)
2x CB (assuming Bert leaves)
1x LB (either a replacement or cover for Ferry)
1x Centre Mid
2x wingers (I don't think Randall and Farrugia will be enough to see us through this season)
1x Striker (has to be a big bastard to compliment Sapsford and Rose)

Am I being greedy?

He'd certainly bring the experience we need, might not have the legs anymore but experience can make up for that. But would this mean sticking with 3 at the back?I think he's available on a free as well.

Somewhat Agree.Β

From reading what people were saying about Rawlins, he is much better attacking than defending, but he puts in a shift and doesn't stop running to make up for this (similar to Ferry) so I don't think Jim is ditching the wingbacks.Β

From looking at the signings so far, it appears to be a 433 variation that can go into a 343 if required during the game, with Sevelj going into RCB and providing cover for fullbacks/wingbacks to get up the pitch. Agyei allows for this due to the amount of ground he covers.Β

What I think the current squad will be (assuming Dave Richards stays)Β
GK: Walton, Richards
RB: Rawlins, Naamo
CB: Iovu,Β TBA,Β  Graham, TBA* (OR cover with Co-op Agreement Dewar/Cleall-Harding if 4 back)
LB: TBA, Naamo
CM: Sevelj, Tait, Agyei, Camara, TBA
RW: Fatah (a man can dream), TBA
ST: Rose, Sapsford**,Β
LW: Randall, FarrugiaΒ

* I think we need 2 more CB
**Maybe 1 winger signed and a big striker instead as Sapsford quite often played off the right.

Β
Someone elsewhere said you were after Lyall Cameron so that we can have Tait and Lyle in midfield...can you confirm Jamesy...?

Somewhat Agree.Β

From reading what people were saying about Rawlins, he is much better attacking than defending, but he puts in a shift and doesn't stop running to make up for this (similar to Ferry) so I don't think Jim is ditching the wingbacks.Β

From looking at the signings so far, it appears to be a 433 variation that can go into a 343 if required during the game, with Sevelj going into RCB and providing cover for fullbacks/wingbacks to get up the pitch. Agyei allows for this due to the amount of ground he covers.Β

Regarding the amount in the door I tend to agreeΒ

Hey Jim,I'm sorry about all the nasty things I've said about you, you're bloody great really! πŸ˜‹

Β

Welcome aboard Jim, really hope you continue posting and start responding to the post game threads as if you are Goodwin, could make for a very entertaining 26/27 Tekel Towers season

Β
Not trying to do that just think he’s the right man for the job currently.
