Happy with Walton returning, I'd rather have a keeper who the defence knows isn't coming for crosses than a keeper who comes and misses / punches in his own net.

For a Ferry replacement - a player very similar to him who would be good is Leon McCann at Falkirk.

Do think that this signing gives a hint to Goodwin's intentions for the defence this season, albeit it's hardly a red hot take.
Walton wasn't really one for coming out and claiming set pieces in his last two spells. It was usually him remaining on his line whilst Gallagher-Holt in front of him won everything. Expect us to sign a big hammer thrower of a similar mould to play in the middle of the 3 next season.
That's a good point. I also thought that part of the attraction of Walton was how early we could get that particular bit of business done, get him in asap and start building a relationship with our defence.

Agree with this.i also think part of Jim’s 3-4-3 idea was to be possession based and dictate play from the back or counter attack quickly. Kuch was an important part of that and was clearly comfortable with the ball at feet even if it never really worked. When Kuch was dropped we became markedly worse going forward. It would seem Jim is binning this idea going back to Walton.

He would be, but would we be prepared to spend any of the money from Ferry’s fee, or is it just to go back into Ogren’s hipper?

Boy who can head everything is absolutely needed if you have Walton in goal. Gallagher #2 essential.

Linked with Bruce Anderson on X.
Massively underwhelming.

Don’t believe that for a min

We’re linked with him every season. Not a bad squad player but that’s it.

We're linked with him so often I actually thought he played for us.
Better not be by the way.

I'm still waiting on Gogic being linked. Feel like his names been floated every year since he arrived in Scotland

Agreed.

Much rather have Anderson as an option off the bench then Stirton (full season loan somewhere for the lad), Rose will be coming in as 1st choice striker i would imagine and Anderson is a decent option to bring on when looking for a goal

Anderson scored less goals than Watters, no thanks

Watters scored 3 goals in 2 games v Rapid, then 2 league goals all season.
Not looked it up but I think Anderson scored twice v us.
But Kucherenko scored 3 goals against us. Get him signed and upfront.

I looked it up, Anderson had 4 goals from 34 games. I'd rather sign Bruce Forsyth
I'd just add also that we've complained all season about our terrible defence and shocking goalkeepers so I'd hardly use him scoring against us as a yardstick for success.
Edit to add, that I've just realised that was your point entirely 🤣

Stirton won't be on our bench next season, he'll be sent on loan.
It's also far too early to say whether Rose will be our 1st choice Striker. Let's see him kick a ball first.

Guessing who Goodwin will bring in as a centre forward is really anyones guess. We've had Moult, VDS, Moller, Dalby, Watters who were all moved off of pretty quickly. The only thing that seems to "fit" is that Goodwin likes someone hat he thinks has physicality and a bit of mobility.
He couldn't have gone off Moult any faster when we got promoted despite some scoring prowess and Dalby has been the only success story so it doesn't make for much optimism...
