Bristol Rovers using St Andrews as a base, would be good to get a friendly v them, mate is a Rovers fan, also a United fan, comes up here a few times a year to watch us.

When I was a kid the season ended and you always had an empty feeling because you knew it was months before your team would play again.
Thoughts emerged like I wonder if players have summer jobs. Or who will we sign in August if wee Ernie opens the purse strings.

Ok only kidding. But as a 12 year old the *close season was a depressing prospect.  We would turn to other activities like getting wet in rivers or caravanning somewhere even wetter than home. Or trying golf on a municipal course, or climbing something that no one should reasonably attempt to climb.  And there was strawberries and raspberries to get sick on.
The sun shone every day without fail. Life was good. But football was a thing of the past.

Now you have an afternoon siesta and the new season's already going.

*close season.. file with United ace/Stalwart/Resounding win/Midfield dynamo/Won't want to see that one back/cheeky lob/marauding winger/purse strings/feel free to add more cliches ....
