I'd bring him in immediately.
He’ll be 36 before the end of the season, and he’s a player who’s game was very much based on pace. I personally wouldn’t bother. His game awareness, physicality and hold up play (and probably finishing) still far better than Watters and Stirton though I would wager. He might not be the 22 year old Johnny Russell anymore, but might still be a worthwhile asset for the ton of big games coming up.
Can't think of too many other Strikers who are without a club, fit available and know the club, the City and Scottish football better than him.
Seems a no brainer to me.
I'd definitely take him back, but how likely are the club to even try?
I think if they could make it happen it would also be great PR for the club at a time when they could really do with something to get the fans back onside. He'd probably pay for the deal by putting some extra arses back on seats too.

I’d be surprised if he has any interest in uprooting his family from the States anyway. I’d imagine he’s more likely to find a second tier side over there or retire than come back here.

Wouldn't need to uproot. A 3 month 'holiday' then back to the US (if that's his intention).
We need to try and sign a Striker somehow.
Watters will get injured again, and isn't much cop even when he is fit. Stirton i like, but we all know he's not ready yet to play week in, week out.

On the Russell yes or no debate, whether he still has anything to offer is probably an unknown as has anyone making comment watched him play ( live) in the last few years?

United fans live in the past more than most fanbases I think. Always pining for old players to come back. I’ve been guilty of it myself at times, but I draw the line at a 36 year old who’s played in a retirement league for half his career.

No desire to see Russell back.
I do think we need to try to sign someone though. The fact Moller started and played over an hour of our last game suggests that Jim thinks he was the best option (ahead of Watters and Stirton) for that role. Personally I thought he was shocking. On a totally different wavelength to the rest of the team (I say that because there must be a wavelength at which he does operate well as he didn't look like a footballer at Easter Road.) At least Watters and Stirton look like they are trying.
We don't need a superstar. Dare I say it, even a Brian Graham type would add some nous to this blunt attack...

I just don't understand football managers, maybe giving Moller recent starts was just his last chance of showing he could offer something?
And if that indeed was the case and it was the clubs thinking, what the fuck are they playing at by not moving for a replacement or additional guy?
We're sitting here about to undertake 7 games in 20 or so days, the league is tightening up, Watters is made of chocolate and Stirton isn't ready and we've signed a wide player and a box to box type midfielder.
Neither were a real priority, our keeper, central defence and lack of goals is there for all to see.
You can't help but worry a bit that those picking the team can't see what appears to be so glaringly obvious.

It's not 'living in the past' this time though, it's more we are absolutely desperate and there are very, very few legitimate options out there.
As Blunkett says we are about to play about 6 games in 20 days.
We are in dire need of some more firepower or things could get very messy, very quickly if we get more injuries.
God forbid anything happens to Zac Sapsford.

I agree there's an urgency to add a striker but I'd be surprised if we end up playing 6 games in 20 days.
I expect another postponement at some point, followed by getting called into the Headmasters office and told off.
That Moller cash be it £100k or more will end up getting spent on the pitch.

You were all shouting about getting Stirton in but all of a sudden he's 'not ready' now.
Probably never be ready if he doesn't get a game.

There’s a difference between being ready for 30 minutes each week off the bench and being ready to lead the line each week for us.

If the club have no plans to add a striker, this busy period of games could be the making of young Stirton.
Depressing to think that a semi fit Watters will always get the nod in front of him.

Our own Manager doesn't think he's ready.
Otherwise we wouldn't have announced him as part of the Co-operation agreement to Airdrie just last month.

Any idea what the thinking behind adding him to the cooperation agreement so late on? By the time he was added to agreement (which seems like it has been fairly limited in terms of getting younger players game time in general?), it was pretty clear that we wouldn't be letting be letting him play for Airdrie this season because we intended to keep him on our bench. Did we have a January prospect that petered out, or did Goodwin just really fancy Moller up front?

This just sums in the chuckle brothers though - A new keeper and new striker gone before the middle of February.
Dolcek - started great then form fell off a cliff due to the manager - MAYBE
Esselink - very quickly exposed - FAIL
Keretezes - agent is throwing him around europe in the hope someone takes him - FAIL
Eskenen - I don't even know what to say about that - FAIL
Iovu - can't tackle - FAIL
Watters - Mince - FAIL
Nammo - signed on loan then immediately on a permanent? don't get it - MAYBE
Sapsford - breath of fresh air but now being hung out to dry same as Dolcek - PASS
Fatah - will be brilliant in an attacking side - PASS
The chuckle brothers recruitment and set up is a disgrace. get rid of both
Camara - PASS

I've not seen much of the press stuff pre yesterday, post game or anything really, I was away for the weekend, in any of the stuff was the Moller transfer asked about and whether we're looking at any options?

Goodwin was asked about it briefly in his Falkirk Pre-match presser.
Usual generic answers -
Sorry to lose him.
Arrived with an injury.
Too good an offer to turn down for the club.
We wish him well.
Interestingly he made a point of saying the bid came out with our own January transfer window. Maybe, i'm looking into things too much, but i took that as him saying we will be doing no more business.
Just for once i'd like wee Yannis to ask him the questions the fans actually want to hear post-match instead of the usual softball questions.

I would say there's still a good chance we sell Ferry if an offer comes in, could happen any time between now and end of March. Would prefer if he stayed with us until the end of the season.
Be disappointed if the chat about Sibbald going back to Falkirk are true. Not surprised necessarily, but he's quietly been our most consistent player and thought he would have made a better vice captain (though I suspect he was overlooked because Goodwin didn't expect to play him every week at start of the season).

I think Yannis has been told which questions not to ask. Ultimately the information that is disseminated is controlled by Ogren (Capuano). My feeling is that if Ogren get £2million of debt repaid, he might be more relaxed going forward. As supporters it is not what we want to hear, however, we all know the player trading model is designed to produce a return.
Goodwin, similarly, cannot be candid about his feelings. Maybe we get away with this model, I just don’t know.

I think he knows fine well himself, what not to ask.
Unfortunately it just makes a lot of the interviews all very generic and samey.
For instance everyone listening when he (Goodwin) was asked about Moller only really wants to know one subsequent follow up question. Will we be actively looking to sign a Striker to replace him from the out of contract options available?
But these type of obvious questions are all too often ignored.

I used to listen to almost all of these DUTV interviews but I now rarely listen at all. If I do, it's usually a pre match press conference to find out about injuries.
They're just a waste of time.1
I've also more or less stopped listening to new player introduction videos because they're so cringeworthy.

Not to hate on wee Yannis, who i actually think is a clever wee guy who does a lot of good on the media side of things, but i agree.
They all too often sound like job interviews.
Same generic questions.

Yeah, not blaming Yannis, he's probably handed a predetermined list of questions.
"What would you say your biggest weakness is Jim?"
"Ah Yannis I'm glad you asked me that. It's my addiction to 343. It drives the fans nuts but I love it. The Chairman's asked me to change it but I'm not going to"
