Ground will be very soft, moulded wellies rather than studded will be the choice of footwear.
It was a fake picture

I don't read other Forums, so have no idea what is being written on there.
I think it's entirely reasonable to question why the Tannadice pitch is in such a state regardless of the heavy rain. I've never in all my years following the club seen it in such a state.
The club could always come out with an explanation btw. If they (or anyone else) are taking umbrage at criticism of the pitch, Utd could release a short interview with the ground staff detailing what efforts they've went too to make the pitch playable.
That would at least quell some of the criticisms and/or speculation.

If it's the one taken with floodlights full on, taken towards the GF, no covers on, allegedly that was from last week.
Not saying it will be on though.

It's not just the pitch though is it. Nearly every aspect of the club comes in for heavy criticism here, from the Chairman to the Academy, much more so than on other forums. I'm discounting X and FB for obvious reasons. And Podcasts, especially the egotistical Ronnie Costello.
For balance I would say this forum is more forensic than other forums.
I'm guessing there's at least one poster (you know who you are) who may have have been close to the club at one time and has an axe to grind.
But when all is said and done I don't come to this forum for positive posts only, I enjoy the knowledge and opinions of many of the posters here.

Remember that photo of Luggy in a European tie chasing down a ball in about 2 inches of snow, blowing a blizzard?
The days when groundsmen were good and the weather was actually bad 😎
I have this as a screenshot on my mobile.

Used to post on other forums, but i'd say in here it's a bit more reserved, less intense and reactionary, and most people can be fair in any criticism.
I'm generally more positive in my outlook, would rather look for the good than focus on the negatives, but one man's negative is another's honest viewpoint.
I'd rather criticisms were aired on forums like this, where proper back and forths can talk it out, alternative viewpoints given, or snippets of info can be given to help an give an understanding or clear up misunderstandings.
Far better than say Twitter or Facebook groups where some of the replies to other fans daring to differ in opinion, or to official club tweets are beyond the pale.
Whilst Twitter is a small snapshot of the fan base as a whole, and maybe there's the online thing of i must act more annyoyed/outraged than the next guy, there's a lot of our fans who I wouldn't let operate heavy machinery and i'd be cutting their meat up for them at mealtimes to avoid them getting to hold a knife, if they genuinely believe half the shite they type or think a lot if what they say us in any way an acceptable way to conduct themselves.

We're not the only surface that has looked worse than in previous seasons. Motherwell which has probably had the best playing surface in the past few seasons didn't look in the best of states in the Kilmarnock game a couple of weeks ago. This is the wettest winter in years just one of those things unfortunately.
St Johnstone and Aberdeen have also had the same number of matches postponed as we do and their pitches are very rarely waterlogged.

I'm sure St Johnstone have had pitch issues in the past tbh

From official
Following Saturday’s postponement, staff have continued to work extensively to improve conditions and prepare the pitch for upcoming matches. As of 1.00 pm today, the pitch is deemed playable and, were a fixture to take place this evening, there would be little concern regarding its playability. The local weather forecast indicates further significant rainfall over the next 24 hours. The club remains in regular dialogue with the SPFL and our opponents, Aberdeen FC. While there is currently no plan for a pitch inspection, this remains a fluid situation and may change depending on weather conditions.Everyone at Dundee United is focused on preparing for tomorrow night’s fixture. Should there be any change to the current position, supporters will be informed as quickly as possible through the club’s official channels.

Transparency is all we want.
Hopefully if the pitch is playable tonight then just keeping the covers on overnight will give it a (slim) chance of going ahead.

Going back to a hoary old chestnut, SFA need to look at weather stats and reconsider summer football.
