You make a good point about the foundation money going towards the academy. They’re being asked to fund the academy when it’s having little-to-no benefit on our first team and the paltry fees we get from clubs for our youngsters are going straight into Ogren’s hipper. So the only person that investment benefits is him.

I’d personally bin the academy for the time being, it was a good thing a long time ago, but it’s not doing anything for us these days. And maybe forcing Ogren to shut it down, and thus these wee six figure sweeties he gets once or twice a year will make him realise he’s never gonna make money out of United, and fuck off.

Ogren’s just Stephen Thompson in a cowboy hat at this point. Only he’s more dangerous because he can just switch off to whatever’s going on. No one’s harassing him in coffee shops or bars in his home town.

On your young lad finishing u18s if it's DDYFA and he plans to keep playing then it's some culture change going into the amateur league.
From experience of my son it's gone from being taught to enjoy and  express themselves against boys their own age to then be thrown in against 40+ year old beer bellied hard men in order to keep playing competitive football.
Everything seems to revolve around physicality and aggression which goes against the entire ethos he grew up with and that sums up Scottish football for me.
Getting taught one thing then being told suddenly that it's not good enough. Completely tinpot imo.
