Always enjoy this, a really good read and insightful for overseas united fans who don't get to many games.
Hope the work situation improves for you LifesAnOcean, sounds grim

Good read LAO.
Our football at times this season could be attributed to another popular video game from Dundee. 'Grand Theft Auto'.
We go about towns committing acts of sometimes shocking brutality, but sometimes it harbours results.
P.s. you still watch Gladiators? 👀😂

It was me who compared the early form of Babunski and Dolcek and their form subsequntly falling off a cliff.
Different type of players, but very similar that both looked brilliant and too good for us, but by September both started becoming liabilities. I think the lesson there is technically ability isn't everything in the Scottish league.
Fight, aggression and hard work are huge in this league. That and not hiding when things aren't going your way.

Captures the current state of the club. I live thousands of miles away and am less influenced by local supporter climate and largely make my own mind up. My 2 cents...the club and leadership need to be more explicit about their mission for the club. Who are we and what does Scottish football as a whole lose if Dundee United aren't there. A historied team who were borne out of the need for representation of a group of people who contributed to making the city what it is and what it was. An underdog team who worked and grafted to build a team of local talent mixed with (often) scandinavian grit that ascended to the top of European football not once but twice against all odds, culminating in having the highest representation of a scottish club at the '86 world cup. Breaking the Old firm/glasgow hegemony, in the 1980s. And overthrowing the dominance of the establishment club in the city, and now sit as one of the big 6 in Scotland. The mission is to honor the roots and underdog story of this club, and the supporters who sustain it by playing with passion, industry and artistry as befits the lineage of players who have earned the right to wear this shirt.

You make a good point about the foundation money going towards the academy. They’re being asked to fund the academy when it’s having little-to-no benefit on our first team and the paltry fees we get from clubs for our youngsters are going straight into Ogren’s hipper. So the only person that investment benefits is him.
I’d personally bin the academy for the time being, it was a good thing a long time ago, but it’s not doing anything for us these days. And maybe forcing Ogren to shut it down, and thus these wee six figure sweeties he gets once or twice a year will make him realise he’s never gonna make money out of United, and fuck off.
Ogren’s just Stephen Thompson in a cowboy hat at this point. Only he’s more dangerous because he can just switch off to whatever’s going on. No one’s harassing him in coffee shops or bars in his home town.
