Gonna be a pedant and say that to credit him with the OG v Hearts if very harsh, he tipped that shot onto the post and it comes of post an hits him in the back. But still, yes he needs to improve big time or we need a replacement in Jan.
RE Gordon or Clark. Sorry but for me Clarke is just as much of a bomb scare. I'd take Gordon though.
He should have had a stronger hand to the original shot in my opinion, but it's his flapping and one handed piss weak punching thats the real issue.

Believe me, Richards isn't better than the current keeper.
He’s probably not a better shot stopper than Kucherenko on a good day, but he isn’t gonna punch the ball into his own net 3 times in 12 games.

He 100% needs a rest from the team, however, watch the highlights - we are woeful with the opposition in possession.
The first, we lose possession and we dont lay a gloves on them before it gets to a shot. The others arent any better. Just before the 2nd goal, they have a chance with 1 or 2 boys in the box. I think we had 6 and it felt like we were going to lose a game. Absolutely need them to wise up too

I agree with this - most the season there have been massive gaps through the centre of the pitch when opposition break up the play and hit us on the break. Just shouldn’t be happening with 3 centre backs and mostly defensive or box to box midfielders like Sibbald, Camara and Sevelj.
However, doesn’t take away from the fact that with just about any other goal keeper in the league we probably don’t concede yesterday and we can build into the game with a chance to win. Same with Livingston.

I’d be interested in seeing us trying 4-4-2 with Sapsford and Watters up top. 4-4-2 is coming back into football just now. Having a third centre half clearly isn’t making us any more solid. Jim still hasn’t found a system that works, and our better players are clearly in the attacking third, so I think it could suit the players we have. I’d probably play Stephenson right mid so that he can tuck and give us an extra man in midfield when required.

Every one of us noticed in his highlights reel when he signed that he loved not catching the ball. It was evident in early games that his communication and command in the box wasn't great and that he wasn't comfortable (or maybe he was too confident) with high balls coming in. So you'd think that surely, Paul Mathers would be coaching him accordingly....and if so, then either the Coach isn't doing enough or the player isn't taking it on.
I want it to work for him, and I do think he can adapt his game but we simply don't have the luxury to let him do it here or we're going to be in trouble soon. Maybe a bit extreme but I reckon we need to be on the case to get a first choice, experienced keeper in as soon as the window opens and maybe see if we can get YK out on loan for rest of the season. Dropping him for 2-3 games isn't going to fix any issues that haven't been fixed after 12 games.

Even taking out his persistent blunders, he’s got the second worst save percentage in the league at 69% , worse even than that flapper with the LEGO hair across the road.
For reference, Birighitti finished the relegation season with 71.1%.

Young Adams recalled. Hopefully he’s away home and won’t be back.

I don’t buy a 3/4 week calf strain at all.
He’s been sent home for a couple weeks to clear his head, at best.

Home maybe isn't the best place to clear his head.
I'll just accept that he does have an injury and wish him well in his recovery.
Then I'd like to see him given a chance, Goodwin still rates him, he's no Birighitti.
Meanwhile the best of luck to Dave, he did alright last night and gets a further test on Wednesday.

No chance that's a coincidence.
Should just be honest but they rarely are.

I hope he makes a full recovery and comes back stronger and better. He’s got good attributes but they have to coach him to make better choices.

That's my hope too.
Send him to Airdrie in January and let him play a few games for them. I haven't given up on Yehvenii.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but did you see the Kilmarnock equaliser at Tynecastle? We're not completely alone for howlers.

True. But what can the staff say? He’s been dropped for being shite? I still hope he can come good. Fwiw Richards also had two punched efforts that were pish Are keepers in general shite scared to try and catch balls now? Modern gloves a balls are like glue as well.

Said this on here years ago but I'll say it again, standard of goalkeeping has dropped across the board, to some extent because of the fondness for overseas goalkeepers. De Gea comes to mind. We have a magnetic attraction for them.
Granted modern football is like a ping pong ball but surely coaching should start from the fundamental of catching the ba and then work back to punch as expedient.
I remember Derby goalkeeper Les Green (Clough days) - 5'10" at most - amazing wee keeper.
We'd two goalies about that time Donald Mackay and Sandy Davie reserve who was just as good. Mackay should have played for Scotland but guess what...
Grumble grumble, but suppose where I'm goin wi this is take Sandy Davie reserve goalie from late sixties early seventies and he'd replace half the howler merchants we have today.

Agree 100%. Think if we some how managed to get Gordon we would notice a big difference in crosses being caught. Very interested to give young lad a chance and see what his approach would be. Basically are we coaching young Scottish keepers out of catching the ball?
