Strain definitely out. Goodwin saying he has a groin/hip issue and will be out for another 'week or two'. An easy decision not to renew his contract. The boy is far to unreliable, injury wise.

Craig Sibbald hasn't trained all week due to stitches in his shin, but is expected to train later in the week and should make it.

Also looks like it’s going to be December before Watters and Graham anywhere near playing although he’s thinking about getting a game arranged for them later this month.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Pick defenders who can tackle.
That 2nd M'well goal was a farce.
Last year Gallagher and Holt would both have blocked the shot.
If that's central defence for the season I'd be happy with 10th in the league.

The B Team are playing away to Inverness next Tuesday night.

Surely both should play in that with a view to being involved in the squad for Falkirk at home on the 22nd November (which is still 16 days away).

Every injury seems to take forever.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

No getting the lovefest for Kucharenko. Gets selected because of enthusiam and "distribution".
Cannae even do the fundamental of commanding his 6 yard box.
No just a flapper but gives all around him the heebees.
- Back to basics - Richards

SCH in.

Trapper on.

Best team (injuries permitting) on from the start, just cannot see the logic of guys sitting on bench waiting to go on as impact players after 70 mins and turn the game.

Goodwin seemingly wants no first teamers playing in these B team games. Its a fucking stupid decision.

Out of interest, why is this game on a Sunday anyway? It's not on tv and neither us nor Hearts are in European competition so has it just been moved for the hell of it?

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Despite the excitement around our pre season signings and some highs, eg the performances v Rapid, I've been feeling strangely negative about things recently.

The inability to defend properly and perform for 90 minutes has left me concerned. How can Iovu keep his place ahead of SCH? How many howlers before he gets dropped?
How has Bert gone downhill so rapidly?
And I make no apology for mentioning it again, the manager needs to get Dolcek on the park and playing to his capability.

The coach (?) talks a great game but he isn't getting the best out of these players. That needs to change.

Today would be a good start.

Ferry not in the squad.

Edit to add. Goodwin prematch explains it's a calf strain done in training.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

On the bus home, my immediate reaction is-

I thought it was a really good team performance. We controlled a fair amount of that game and we deserved to win the game. 3-4-3 is our best formation. Sevelj played his best game in a while which was good to see. Tynecastle was silent bar the 650 away fans.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

On another day that could have been a battering for them if sapsford had got his run timed better.

Front 3 were brilliant

Through team I thought to a man we played very well

Stephenson’s goal is unbelievable

One negative, actually two, throw ins horrific- amateurish at times. And free kicks we may as well just balloon it over the bar- honking.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Has to be 3-4-3 moving forward. We need to figure out how to beat teams that play a low block with it, because we’re more than a match for teams that try to play out against us, we’ve shown that against Rapid, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen this season, even the Hearts game at home we should’ve won.

The Dundee game should be the blueprint for beating shitey wee teams that sit in against us. Work the ball patiently and let them make the mistakes.

Hearts won’t win the league this season, they won’t even be close to it. I’ve not been overly impressed by them either time we’ve played them this season, they’re no different to Aberdeen last season on their purple patch. A few bad results and they’ll spiral, maybe not to the extent of Aberdeen, but they’re not good enough to maintain their start to the season.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

Really enjoyed that match today. Thought United played very well and that was probably the best we've played since Rapid away.

Defence excellent.

Midfield industrious.

Forwards, tricky and full of running.

What made me happier than anything was that the players seemed to play with a bit of belief again. We played our game, our way, rather than get bogged down with what the opposition were going to do.

We also done 'the basics' well today.

My player ratings -

Kucherenko 7 - Thought he had a good game today and done everything calmly and efficiently.

Stephenson 8 - Excellent headed goal. Becoming a bit of a goal machine in his 2nd spell at the club.

Iovu 8 - Very solid display from big Iurie today. Played some good long passes.

Esselink 8 - Solid stuff from big Bert today. Led the back line very well.

Kerezstes 8 - Very good performance. One outstanding challenge to win the ball deep in the opposition half. Booked for it. Scottish referee's in a nutshell.

Naamo 7 - Feared the worst when i seen him at LWB, but i thought he done just fine. Stuck to his basics well and made sure no crosses got in or got caught out of position. Considering he played out of position, that was a very decent first start for the club. Showed me he has a bit of versatility.

Camara 8 - Best midfielder on the pitch. Just a joy to watch him in a United shirt most weeks. Missed a good chance to score after a brilliant one two. Feel like a goal is coming from him before too long.

Sevelj 7 - More like it from Vicko today. Game turned into a bit if a battle and he got stuck in as much as anyone else.

Dolcek 6 - I've seen a few praise the front three (including Goodwin himself), i however was a little bit disappointed in Ivan again today. Wasn't seen much as an attacking threat and not sure he done his case for a starting jersey much good with other players knocking at the door.

Sapsford 8 - Back to his best today. Was a pest all day long and caused Hearts all sorts of problems. Very fine margins between him scoring a couple today and assisting another.

Fatah 8 - Thought he was excellent today. An absolute dream of a pinpoint cross for Luca's goal. Very unlucky not to get his first goal from open play. He's getting better by the week.

Re: Heart of Midlothian Vs Dundee United - Sunday 9th November

The back 3 were very good. The goal wasn't their fault, none of the other players occupied the space at the edge of the box and the scorer got his shot away far too easily.
The keeper maybe should have saved it. Maybe. Think fans would be divided on that. I'd have to see it in slowmo again.

Naamo played on the left and did well, and would definitely improve with more game time to develop understanding with team mates.

Stephenson played on the right of the midfield 4 and delivered a standout performance.

Camara put in a power of work as usual and was always at the forefront of pressing Hearts players and trying to win the ball back, something we did very well. Sevelj frustrates me, he needs to be told he's there to break up play and pass it, and that he's not Scott McTominay.

Sapsford was great. He's a centre forward and I hope that's where he's played from now on. A tireless performance from him, gave the Hearts defenders a torrid time.

Dolcek was quiet, it was Fatah that threatened time and time again. But overall the front 3 worked well and gave Hearts all sorts of problems.
If I was being critical I'd say our choice of pass at times was poor but luckily Hearts didn't offer that much danger going the other way.

This performance a major improvement on the Motherwell shambles. We seem to like big occasions, big crowds.

Edit, was posting before I saw Teks ratings.
