Re: R&D Tax Claim

In the accounts just released for the Year ending June 2025 they've made a provision for an expected tax payment of £350,444.
That's either an accountant working something out based on potential (x-y = mc2) or could it be they already know what HMRC are after...

Looks awfy like it.

You've got to wonder how they've come up with such an accurate figure.

To me it looks like we know the figure, we've put put the money in a separate interest bearing account to be held separate until we do have to stump up.

Again no fucking mention of The Rangers as one of the clubs involved, Quelle surprise!

Ogren coming across as a dimwit once again though 🫤

Re: R&D Tax Claim

As I have said many a time (from very early on in the Ogren reign) Ogren fell for the Emperor's new clothes with the Fat Controller.  If he wasn't vaingloriously stupid that wouldn't have happened.

If you let a snake oil salesman run the show you shouldn't be surprised when he encourages other parasites to come and take their cut of the ignorant Emperor's millions.

To be fair to Ogren he seems to have wised up a little and seems to have some reasonably trustworthy people around him.  Long may that continue.

It can't be too easy to admit you've been duped, so fair play to him.  Just don't feck it up again!

As much as it pains me to say it, I think this is Ogren showing some candour. On a personal level I find it woefully inadequate, but, I think it’s the best we’re going to get. Even as a de facto “investor” his remoteness (and lack of trust) in the supporters bothers me. I really feel the way forward is fan ownership. Let’s be honest, whoever wants to buy the club, we almost certainly don’t want.

It's not a question that hasn't already been asked of course, but how the fuck does somebody so naive in business get so rich in the first place? It beggars belief.

Easy. Second generation. His folks  built up a network of gas (petrol) stations (with associated retail). They had a gas distribution retail business too. Simple stuff, but, scalable and consistently profitable. He could have continued the business but chose to sell it off. At that stage he could have invested the proceeds for income. He didn’t, he decided to speculate. It’s a bit like looking for the next Nividia, Tesla or Netflix - your chances (even if you are a billionaire) are 10%. Peter Thiel’s book “Zero to one” is excellent on this.

But think about it: Steven Thompson, The Glazers, Rocco Forte, Sir Hugh Fraser. It’s always the second generation.

Aye that makes sense, born with money doesn't usually equate to born with brains.

Second generation syndrome is too simplistic.  The real Ogren failing was to think that the Fat Controller could be trusted to run a football club.  There's one thing making bad investment decisions totally another to then hand control of that investment to a total charlatan.  It is the utter naivety that I just can't understand.  I'd made a decision on the charlatan after being in the same room as him for about 5 minutes.  A truly embarrassing episode for our great club.  At least Ogren is trying to make amends (and no doubt a little of his Papa's money back...)
