A striker and another winger for me. We need pace to bring off the bench. Thomson’s full of graft and endeavour but I don’t think he’s quick footed enough to ever be a winger in a side that aspires to challenge for European football. He should work on bulking up cause I think he can become an effective right wing back.

Would imagine Fotheringham and Odada will go before the window closes, so that’ll also free up a bit of cash.

I think Goodwin will be happy with the wide options in the squad. Trapanovski, Dolcek, Fatah the main lads, and then Naamo, Sapsford and Thomson can all play there too.

Might need two strikers in if Watters keeps struggling for full fitness and Sapsford is out for some time.

Trapanovski is out for a couple more months at least,Naamo still to make a competitive appearance and Sapsford injured too. I'd say his options are still limited

If Naamo and Sapsford are going to be out long term then aye. Can't see him going for a 7th place in the squad for a wide forward but you never know.

The fortnight break will help heal some knocks hopefully but I reckon we'll be waiting until deadline day for any more additions now we are out of Europe.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Any word on how bad Sapsford's injury is? Really hoping it was just bad swelling and nothing that keeps him out for too long. Tomorrow obviously will likely come too early for him, but hopefully he is back fully fit for the Derby. We have a really decent player on our hands with this boy.

Jim said he’s “in contention” for tomorrow apparently.

So aye, he’s either back tomorrow or in 3 months.

Aye, played right wing in a friendly though and did well. Brilliant delivery.

Talk on Twitter that Hearts bid for Will Ferry a few weeks ago.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

We needed another Striker in the door. I would argue we might actually need two if Sapford and Watters are going to be out for weeks (will then take another few weeks on top of that before they get back to match fitness).

It is totally unfair to expect Owen Stirton to be anything more than a useful option from the bench at this point and if we sign just one other Striker then we are also relying on them starting every game, and it also means we are screwed for variety of formation. I also get the feeling that Max Watters is unfortunately going to be one of those types of players who's constantly injured, so i would just consider him a luxury, bonus type in our squad, rather than a guy who we can rely on playing 40+ games. If he's fit and available, great, but i wouldn't hang my hat on that being the case consistently.

C'mon United stop penny pinching and give Goodwin the funds to build us a proper squad that can compete strongly in the only two competitions we are left in.

We also need another LWB and a LW.

Yeah I'm thinking that about Watters.
Don't know if he's played a full 90 yet

Hoping that watters has just been playing through the pain barrier in an attempt to get to the 2 week break 🤞

I dunno, i just get the feeling he will be a crock.

Injured on his first touch against Strassen.

Out ill against Hearts

And now done his hammy. He's only been here 4 weeks ffs.

I wish we would stop pissing about and just sign two Strikers. Pig sick of having zero options up front.

If we get one forward injured we're struggling, if we get two we're in crisis. It can't go on like that.

We definitely need a couple of strikers in. Unfortunately it's the most difficult position to fill, strikers are usually the highest paid players.
I've read a good few posts from UTD fans suggesting we swap Fotheringham for Kirk. When the reality is he is sitting on the bench for a championship team but SJ turned down half a million for him.
I can see this going to the last day of the window again

Was there not also a valid point about strikers costing lots of money and a guy that isn’t even starting in championship being valued at over £500k ?

Given that we are unlikely to loan any more players, it looks like free transfers or players from abroad that will be gambles.

Fully expect it will be another loan either one under the age limit (assuming that is applicable) or we'll make one of our other loanees permanent.  I am assuming that we are keeping Pappoe as he'd have already gone back to Hungary by now.

Got told that one this afternoon too.

Hearing could even be announced tomorrow. Rumour is we want two Strikers before the window shuts (really hope so). Be interesting to see if the fee for Moller is another one made up of future percentages.

One Barnsley fan mentioned something along the lines of “better get used to him being on the treatment table more than the pitch.” when he joined. Good to see our medical staff doing their due diligence. 4 weeks here and three different instances of injuries/illness.

Goodwin in the paper saying we're speaking to two players and one should be sorted by the tail end of the week.
