Formation and starting XI for Thursday's huge match?
Offline
Kucherenko
Iovu
Esselink
Keresztes
Sevelj
Camara
Sibbald
Ferry
Dolcek
Watters
Sapsford
Team almost picks itself for this one. Would prefer a 352 if I'm honest, but can't see him putting Miller at RWB as you'd need Sevelj in the midfield 3. That is the only 'maybe' about Thursdays team. Might happen if Watters is still out though...
Some will call for SCH over Iovu but I don't think there is much chance of that.

Fatah, Stirton, hopefully Naamo, SCH, Thomson, Fotheringham, Richards, Adams on the bench with some youngsters.
Sevelj to play on the right of the middle three to help out Dolcek to try and stop them getting crosses into the box as I think that is where we are at our weakest just now. I think they are goin to target Iovu's side of the defence with crosses into the box.
Hopefully the effort put into the Hearts game hasn't sapped too much energy from the players as I think we might have to soak up a fair amount of pressure and try to hit them quick on the break if we want to progress to the next round.

Has this match got a TV blackout for some reason?

That's the 11 I would start but maybe splitting hairs here, prefer to see it as a 352 with Dolcek more withdrawn and going forward to support the front 2.
Will Ferry needs to be really switched on to their attacks on our left hand side and they like to get 2v1 there so hopefully Goodwin has told someone to help Ferry out.

The club are really letting the fans down selling the tv rights to these cunts

I agree, but.. .. I think there might be some UEFA ruling that's preventing us putting it on DUTV. The SevcoNewco (Oldco debts Newco Trophies) match tonight was also on SolidSports. Someone better informed than me will know. Always United maybe.
I also have a problem that I can't cast it to my TV screen and their tiny wee picture won't expand to fit a full mobile or tablet screen.
Shite company, and before you tell me United get half of the revenue I don't care, they're shite.

I think we have the potential to win this. I really do. But to do so a few things will have to align at the same time.
I think our best chance of winning is to settle into the game for 5-10 minutes then raise the pace and absolutely assault them relentlessly for a sustained period with a view to getting one or even two first half goals.
The reason I say this is that the longer the match goes at 0-0 the more the likelihood of them winning it due to tiredness and being stretched on our bench while they have strong players to swap in.
The defending players need to be at high intensity and concentration, we need to deny them space behind.
The midfielders need to choose the right outball, not just a hoof away to relieve pressure.
And the attackers need to be clinical if a chance arrives.
If we can do all these things at the same time just maybe we can get a famous victory.
Their new manager will be nervous about the backlash if Rapid lose, their players won't enjoy the smaller tighter stadium with a narrow players tunnel and stands close to the pitch.
Let's make them more nervous when they walk out.

Yes it's a bit complex but clubs can't show games on their own in-house channel unless no other media partner wants to show it. Assuming the BBC weren't interested for whatever reason, and Solid Sport were, then there is absolutely nothing United could have done here.

In that case I'll forgive the club but solid sport can still fuck right off though.

Not getting the hate for Solid Sport giving people with a ticket the option to watch online. Would you rather watch by BBC text updates?

If you have a ticket why would you watch it online?
It wouldn't be so bad if you could watch it on tv but even after paying for it you can't even mirror it on to the tv.
It's also dutv commentary but on their platform, what exactly do they bring to the fucking table?
Also it's a total rip off for lads like Redford who live abroad and already pay a hefty DUTV subscription for live games

Not sure why you can't get it on your TV. I can cast my phone screen to my TV and that worked fine. Not as nice as proper services but it does the job

Mate in the grand scheme of things $17 US isnae going to burst the bank.
But:
1/ It's the thin end of the wedge, it sets a precedent and encourages the bastards. On their site it even says in the normal course of events Solid Shite record games then sell them on to DUTV ( ? whit ) justifying doing this.
2/ Totally passed off wi DUTV - I paid Annual Sub, a day or two later , guess what no coverage. Thus I'm paying twice
3/ Games are on DUTV As 90 about 24 hours later , just can't help myself but find the score which makes watching a waste of time.
4/ Try as I might I cannae crack into Solid Shite via any 3rd party sites
5/ I see Solid Shite have given up on Hibs coverage now free on Hibs TV.
6/ Another apparent reason is that UEFA have come up with this bright idea ? - F_ _ _ right off Don Agostini
No excuses for lengthy winge Hen.

Well, the day is here. I’m buzzing. I got one of the remaining tickets in the JK. The last time I was in the JK was the playoffs against Thistle in 1996. I couldn’t get a ticket anywhere else, so I went along to Firhill and got a ticket, but, of course was stuck with 2,500 Thistle supporters. Trying to contain myself when big Welshy scored was not easy.
If we win this game it’s going to be remembered for the next 50 years. I think Jim should get the team to watch Gladiator…. “What you do on the pitch will echo throughout eternity…if you find yourself bathed is a sea of tangerine adoration, do not be troubled….for you are already in Elysium”
Ok going to walk the dug

Money's on Rapid.
You can get 3/1 for us now (11/5 at the start of the week) whilst they're a skinny 3/4 (were odds against 11/10).
But that's ok.
Btw tonight potentially is the last time we'll be at Tannadice for 44 days.

Was up at 06:00 this morning walking the dogs, the nerves had started to kick in. Every half hour at work the radio keeps playing Jim’s interview & how he’s wanting a hostile atmosphere. Now im pacing up and down the floor until i finish in 40 mins.
Mon the fucking shed!!

Specifically on DUTV point - European games are not and will never be on DUTV. It's to stop the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United buying up the rights to their own games to show in-house.
There is an opt-out if nobody else wants to show them then in house channels can, but realistically with United that'll never happen.
