Good luck to him.
No loss, but if the rumours about Watters being out for two months are true then we are ridiculously light for Strikers.
It's went very quiet regards the two new signings Goodwin said he wanted in before the league starts on Sunday.
Rumour on here yesterday that Watters is fineHopefully that is correct. Doesn't seem like he's trained today though. Several training pics posted and he's in none of them. Neither is Naamo or Strain.
Maybe just keeping things under wraps hopefully

That's the media starting to churn out noise about our non Scots XI on Thursday a piece in tomorrow's Scotsman by some walloper about it.
The money to recruit Scottish players of the level we require to compete, simply isn't there, so what are we meant to do, fill the team with Nicky Clark, Jordan White, Liam Polworth, Cammy Kerr and just be happy if we survive?
I do think there's an imbalance in the squad, but how do you address that when boys can move south for 2 and 3 times what we can offer?
Unless I'm mistaken (not checked Wiki) looks like one and only one Scottish players starting for the Rangurs tonight. Wonder if the outraged west coast media will be writing about that?
In other news there's a rumour that Jort has signed for Cambur in the Netherlands.

Coulld be a mistake letting Jort go, we'll miss all those goals and assists.

They had 2, 1 of which came from our academy but there will be future games with zero Scots and absolutely nothing will be reported about it.

Bang on the money! The difference also being that they can afford the inflated wages Scots players are looking for but still prefer foreign players. It's not a Dundee United problem it's a Scottish football problem but of course that doesn't suit some people's agenda so they churn out their predictable shite instead.
Fuck the lot of them!

Any chance we can just scout & sign a centre forward and have the guy ready for the first game of the season?
(start Stirton)

Goodwin on bbc saying Watters is a contact knock whatever that means. But suggests nothing serious.
Brilliant bit of business if we manage to offload VDS. He must have been on a decent wage.

Scott Burns saying that St Johnstone, Ross County and Dunfermline all want Kai Fotheringham & that he’s ready to leave.

Would be offering the 350K extra we made from winning last night plus Kai for Ronan Hale.
Sadly no chance that’ll ever happen.

As a counter point, I don't think Hale is the sort of player we need if Goodwin is sticking to this 343 setup. Think a big 6'4"unit of a centre forward is what I'd be looking at if the option was there.
Although FWIW I'd be willing to risk leaving out buying another forward if we would give Stirton a chance, I think he looks decent and unlike most of the boys we bring through, looks like he's physically ready for first team football.

Think we must definitely be bringing in 2 more strikers if Kai and VDS are both about to leave. I'd feel much happier too if we pulled Luca Stephenson out the bag

Should be using as Kai as the player plus cash if we have it for hale or Kirk.

Good player but doesn't he play as a 10?
Don't see where he fits in Goodwin's style

Yeah exactly as you say. Very good player if he can recapture his County form.
And yes definitely a 10.. hmmm, maybe Jim's thinking about flexibility in formations. Especially when you see how close St Mirren ran Celtic today by attacking them when in possession.
Would also annoy the neighbours big time.

Horses for courses, systems and tactics have to be able to change, for a spell last season folk had us worked out, certain teams knew how to counter us, as we never really had a plan b.
As things stand there's certain players, keeper, Ferry, back 3, probably Watters who when all are fit will play but the squad should be able to adapt depending on the opposition.

If we do go 3-5-2, Dhanda could be in the middle of the 5..
A 3-4-1-2, if you will

I must say I'm a bit baffled as to where Danda plays, as we already seem overloaded with midfielders and are also leaving a berth open for Stephenson.
Our need for Striker/s and left side players seems much more pressing.

Probably unwise to admit this but I woke this morning very stressed due to a vivid nightmare where I was watching on in the press conference as Stephenson signed for Aberdeen. I was about to shout out then I woke up.

I can't see him going to Aberdeen.
He's getting a lot of glowing reviews from Liverpool fans this Summer. I think they'll offer him a new deal and send him out on loan again. Now that might not be us, but i don't think they'll sell him to anyone just now. He's played about 4 positions for them this Pre-season.
Manager's like players like that.

5-3-2
Two of Camara, Sevelj, Pappoe or Sibbald behind Dhanda sounds not bad to me.
