I'm hearing Strain, Watters and Fatah definitely won't be heading on the plane to Luxembourg.
Dario Nammo going to be a late decision.
What XI and formation for Thursday?

How do we have so many injuries this early in the season? The training? The medical staff? Seems to have been going on for years now.

Goodness knows what happens with players at training/early season. Same thing happened with Strain last season.

Strain and Watters both got hurt during Thursday's game. Nammo and Fatah were injured against Oldham. Stirton was injured by a bad tackle at Brechin but is back fit thankfully. It's only Jort that pulled up in training.
In this case we've probably been unlucky although Fatah's injury has came about by playing in friendlies when he was nowhere near fit enough.

If Sevelj ends up at RWB that will be good for the team.
Strain is definitely the weak link in the back 5. Vicko is better in the air a bit quicker and more solid in the tackle.

Strain is better in the final third and the formation is geared up for the right wing back, that Sevelj, isnt imo. Defensively better but as an attacking team, we would lose a lot down the right without Strain. Hopefully most of the niggles are much improved and the lads are all on the plane.

I think I'd rather see Miller Thomson at RWB for more of an attacking threat but Goodwin is risk averse, and playing away in Europe, it'd be hard to have a go if he chose to stick the ever reliable Sevelj out there and replaced him with Sibbald in the middle. Who looked half decent when he came on Thursday I thought.

Sky are reporting it's a 6pm kick off, they're also reporting that the first leg of the Hibs game ended 0-0 and that United have a Dundee badge and Dundee have a United badge, i don't know who to trust.

Assuming 352 I'm liking that. We need to dominate the centre of the park, get a stronger presence in there and that lineup does it.
As to those suggesting young Miller at RB, please no he's never a RB and has cost goals playing there. Svelj is a far better RB due to his positional sense.

The odds....
Strassen 3/1
Draw 5/2
United 5/6
Correct score
1 - 1 6/1
0 - 1 13/2

Whatever the reasons it is very frustrating though that our injuries seem to continue to mount up.
We've played one competitive match and have seven injured players already.
Watters
Graham
Fatah
Nammo
Fotheringham
Strain
VDS
I think one thing that compounds it is.
1) The complete lack of updates from the club which at times leads to wild speculation (Docherty last season, Fotheringham currently)
2) Players never coming back quickly. We always hear such and such 'won't make Saturday, but isn't far away'. Then another one, two of three games pass with no update.

Agreed.

Its not just United who don't give updates on injuries these days, pretty much every club no longer does this.

I don't want United giving updates on injuries. I want us to keep the opponents guessing til the last minute if a player is likely to miss out, or return from injury.
The support knowing if a player is injured ultimately makes no difference to the game we'll watch.

I see clubs online giving player injury updates all the time.
More long-term injuries granted, but I still think it's a good way to communicate with the support.

Sorry my post on the Injuries thread should have been here
Someone who appears to be ITK posted this......
Watters OK. Scan showed that nothing damaged
Strain is recovering. 50/50 for Thursday.
Nammo, may make Thursday.

Away to get a few hours kip, and then head through to Edinburgh for a 7am flight. Won't get to Luxembourg (via London) until 8pm GMT and then the plan is to throw my bag in the hotel and head into town, probably to Scotts Pub.
Hope everyone going out has a ball and hopefully the mood is good on here Thursday night!

Strassen were better than I expected, but we still should have more hen enough to see them off, A bit more composure in from of goal last week and we're not even stressing.
Not sure i'd be risking anybody with knocks for fear or aggravating them.

Very much agree with first bit, example JYM having Gough rock up at Pitoddrie in a cast.
Any possible advantage you can gain got to be good.
That said we do take it to the extreme to the extent that you wonder if the "Sports Scientist" backroom guys know what they're on about half the time.
. ... Wonder what the players make of it ? - It's their appearance fees we're talking about.
