A 5'6" Striker,they can have him.

I would’ve given Louis Moult a 1 year extension.

If this is the wee fast guy to play off the big ball winner I could be interested.

You must get through a hell of a lot of shirts every close season.
Good news though for you we've been linked with David Banner a midfield enforcer ( not Scottish though ) but he does have that element of unpredictability

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Sam Cosgrove out of contract. Has experience playing up here, big unit of a lad, decent goal record, and a target man to play off of. When he was at Aberdeen, remember him giving defenders a torrid afternoon.

Genuine question, based off what? He did brilliantly for us in the Champ season, but apart from a couple of moments of brilliance last season, he doesn't offer enough to be a lone striker in this league. And when he played up top with Dalby he was never near the level we needed.

Yeah I realised that after I'd posted tbh. Having said that,in his highlights reel he never once hits the byeline, cuts inside every time. Too predictable, can see him being a flop.

Kyle vassell offered a 2 year deal, killie captain

Certainly not a prolific goalscorer, but nearly was Dalby.

32 years old doesn't fit with our current recruitment model, but I seem to remember him being a real handful in our games against Killie. Will be an interesting one of he does choose to sign for us.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Vassell is far too injury prone to be our lead striker.  Don't object to him being brought in as cover/option of the bench.  He's not being kept on by Killie when he said he was happy to stay so maybe a stop-gap for the Euro games until we get the real target?

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Every signing doesn't have to be a view to a sale I suppose, and CF is the one area where you want a bit of experience.

From memory he's a strong, bustling centre forward type who enjoys the physical battle with defenders.

Only worry is it looks like he missed a decent amount of games last season.

To be honest, I agree on the funster point  - looks ready made for them.  To be fair, if fit, him and the ginger plumber would frighten a few defences!

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Reading between the lines I don't think many Arabs, Dad's Army Arabs or not, have much faith in our Aussie striker. Were you looking for something better?
It's all a bit of a lottery is it not, some new furners knit in, some don't. I guess the success rate is about 50/50.
The new goalie is a case in point, will he be a Sieb or will he be a Poppadom?
If the latter we've always got Dave who got us 4th place with a fantastic save.

Knows the league and is a handful, don’t mind him being signed.

68 games for Killie
14 goals
7 assists

Wouldn’t be coming in to play every game but be a decent option, loads of experience and would seem to be a leader (Killie captain, McInnes always spoke highly of him) which we’re needing in the squad.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

I think the wide acceptance of VDS has let goodwin think he can just sign anyone he likes to play upfront.

utter mince - on the plus side VDS will make him look like prime Trezeguet

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

I actually don't mind Vassell. Big strong player who tends to play well in big games (Rangers, Celtic etc).

Not a goal scorer, but a good foil for other more prolific Strikers (actually a decent shout above that Vassell and Simon Murray would make a good partnership).

Which I'm hoping there is still one to come in. Another Striker with pace, who is more of a goal scorer. Not writing off Sapsford in saying that btw. But we can't just gamble on him being the only poacher type.

The above must happen though or the potential Vassell signing is pointless, as he ain't a goal scorer himself. My other concern is he's quite injury prone.

At least he knows Scottish football and it's demands, however.

I'm 50/50 on this one tbh.

Starting to really dislike they bastards.

Signed Richard Taylor, signed Sam Dalby.

Seem intent on signing everyone and anyone we're interested in.

The fact that League 1 teams in England can easily offer 3/4/5x the wages that we can offer players is likely why so many clubs have had to head overseas to recruit. Some clubs will take a punt on a National League or a League 2 player now and again, but those are definitely high-risk as they could be nowhere near the standard you need for up here - Alex Nicholls etc.

There will be some good examples out there, for sure, but its really no surprise that clubs are filling their squads up with players who have never stepped foot on a British football pitch.

Ross Graham was our 2nd top scorer in the league last season (4)*

It was clearly ‘get the ball to Dalby’ and although it did the job, the team clearly needs more goals. And more players to step up.

I have little faith in VDS, Trapanovski and Fotheringham to do so. Sapsford & Stirton untried.

We need 2 strikers in the door, and soon imo.

*4 goals in 12 Prem starts is a great return btw

Was the top 4 scorers not dalby, graham, trapanovski and holt, very concerning considering, graham missed half the season through injury and holt was sold in february. The chances of us getting lucky and signing another 20 goal striker are slim meaning its important we sign a few goalscorers in multiple positions
