Just surprised Jimbo didn't elbow anyone.
Tho as long as he's on our side he can elbow anyone he wants.
And so bring aggression into our midfield.

That was one of the worst games I've watched in a while, but it was almost solely down to the wind. Absolutely ruined the game.
We were decent enough in the first half. Liked the look of the back 3 and Camara puts himself about really well. The newest one Naamo looked sharp enough considering he's had one session with the team. Got the assist for the goal.
Lots of running from Sapsford and could have had a goal if not for a decent block/sclaffy finish.
Trapanovski first half got round his man a good few times but his final ball was a bit off. Good signs from him though.
Second half, can't really take it too seriously as we brought on a whole host of teenagers plus Sibbald, Pappoe and Odada. Pappoe stood out in terms of his physicality, won the ball back multiple times and looked sharp. Odada still terrifies me to be honest but I'm hopeful he can play a part this season.
All in all, more minutes in the legs and two more friendlies before the real stuff starts.
Today highlighted how badly we need attacking players in the door to be honest. 2 wingers and 2 strikers minimum for me. Although no Thomson or Fotheringham today again which might have given us a bit more options in that second half.

Think Rory MacLeod done well and showed he’s got enough about him to be in the first team. In a previous thread I’ve seen people question his attitude, think he proved them wrong. Only caveat being it was a single lacklustre friendly. Esselink looked solid too.

3 more friendlies, Zwolle,St Johnstone and Oldham

I think we agreed to this because it was a testimonial for one of their players but Gayfield is a completely hopeless venue for a pre season due to the windy location. Hopefully we'll get a better idea v St J, Zwolle and Oldham.

If we get to next weekend with no strikers added at United then I'll start getting a bit concerned because at the moment we have very little up top and lack creativity. The laddie Sapsford looks like he needs a goal. He also looks like he needs some help. Changing to 3-5-2 with Pappoe in midfield alongside Camara and Sevelj and another striker up beside Sapsford looks the way to go. Thought Nammo looked good, his touch was very good. I'd see him competing with Strain (who imho is a weak link and doesn't seem to ever pass the ball forward) for rwb spot rather than just as cover. Pappoe was impressive and Camara looks really good too. Thought Iouvo struggled as the game went on. Gave the ball away several times 2nd half especially. You saw him get frustrated at the forwards at one point. Also feel Strain doesn't offer himself on the right the way Ferry does on the left.

Naamo playing as a winger?
Was that him wearing number 10? Thought he was meant to be number 22

Starting eleven were numbered 1-11.
Except Dave, who kept his 25 for some reason.

That starting 11 had their own squad numbers though, except for number 10. Can only assume his 22 shirt wasn't ready yet and 10 is still available.

Yeah seemed like numbered until the subs as Rory MacLeod was no.16 but is 27 on the squad sheet. Hopefully the lack of perpetuity is a sign of player coming in to fill depth in positions needed.

Highlights from Saturday's match in Arbroath. I use the word 'highlights' loosely.

Anybody going to the Zwolle game on Friday?
Couple of us are heading out Thursday.
Not aware of anyone else going.

Thanks TEK, I couldn't make the game.
Another 4 minutes of my life wasted!
Looked like Dave handled the windy high balls very well, I think we might have a keeper on our hands.
He had a fabulous save v Aberdeen tho some of his distribution looked like he needed match practice.
An excellent backup for Yevhenii or even the other way round.

We weren't planning on it but looked last week and got 2 nights hotel and flights for £210 so just thought fuck it.
Be interesting to see how many we take over.

I looked basically an hour after it was released and last night again, both £400 for 2 nights and flights so you’ve got a good deal.

Fletcher Hotel Doorwerth/Arnhem looks like a nice hotel in a good location for our Netherlands camp. 48 miles from Zwolle though.
Presume the choice was made on the basis of training facilities.

Easyjet package holiday flights and hotel still £210 but that is staying in Amsterdam not Zwolle. Just get a train up on the day.

Is the Zwolle friendly going to be available to watch anywhere?

Heard it's on Solidsports.com, PPV, £7.

Stirton and Jort now joined up with the squad in Holland. Good news.
