Well that looks like it for this week, I'm wondering what happened to the rest of the rumoured signings? By all accounts Stephenson and the other lad from Liverpool were imminent last week, as was the Finnish winger.

Stephenson’s still on holiday in Italy going by his Instagram so wouldn’t expect anything imminent on that front. The Finnish boy is a done deal from what I’ve heard.

Except for here obviously

I've looked back and i don't see anyone saying it was a done deal.

I said about a week ago, he was close to signing, and i believe from the two sources i heard from that he was.

His agent has subsequently went to Breda and asked for more money. We move on.

Post 140 mate, I've quoted it so you dont have to go back through.

Just for clarity, I'm not saying that the poster is talking shite, rather his source instead.

Fair enough, i missed that.

JD probably heard the same as me. This move was definitely very close, looks like typical bullshit agent stuff.

Moving the goalposts at the eleventh hour. Good riddance tbh, kinda glad it never happened now.

And yeah totally agree about Jim being offski if his hands were tied.

That's only the case until next Monday mate, the window reopens then

Sorry, thought I saw on here that window had shut.
What's the story that you say "reopen" ?
Cheers

The window only opened for a week for the club World Cup ie Trent could sign for Madrid from Liverpool for 10 mill

Reopens on Monday

I’d be expecting United to make at least another 10 signings

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

For those asking about the transfer window, it opened early for the club world cup. As it can only be 16 weeks in total under FIFA regulations, it's closed again for a week.

In reality it'll have no impact on teams like United, deals can and will still be done, they just won't become official for a week.

The boy Taylor from St Mirren has signed for Bolton, so that's another one that was rumoured that we can forget about.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Everyone has been off on holiday.  Pre-season hasn't started, so regardless of who we might sign, there would be nothing for them to do anyway.

Besides, it could be the case that we have signed players, but we're waiting to unveil them when they are in Dundee with a scarf above their head and they are able to give a proper interview instead of getting a 5 second video clip of a random player saying "hi Dundee United fans, can't wait to see you all at Tannadice".

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Just sounds to me like we haven't been sourcing players until recently. I know I'm probably being unnecessarily twitchy this time but we have emptied the entire spine of last seasons team and until I see what we plan to replace them with I'll continue to feel the same.

Courier saying at least ont expect to be made official this week,  not exactly what I was hoping to see tbh

I find it impossible to believe that the Goodwins have just started sourcing players recently. This stuff goes on all year round, but final deals always go to the wire if players have options.

I completely trust that we'll see plenty of incomings in the near future.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

I guess until a month ago, we didn't know our budget or what we can offer players ie Europe etc - I'd still like to see business done but not panicking yet.

On a slightly negative side (and i hate being ngative before hes signed - let alone played but watched a video of the goalkeeper and he looks pretty awkward somehow. Tbf to him, he also had a good few good saves.

Also seems to push the ball into play rather than out of play. Tbf, I am not a scout for united - so hoping they know more than me.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

As mentioned earlier, if we sign him as our number 1 I'll be  very disappointed.
Massively important to have a top keeper between the sticks. We've seen what a bad one costs and we've seen last 2 seasons what a difference a good one makes. Crucial to get this right.

Would agree with Always on this one. If our targets are decent players they may have more than one choice.
And with overseas players a move to a colder climate isn't always the first choice.
We have to woo them with the big games they'll play in and the possible stepping stone it can be for them.
Would imagine the previous  recruitment guy will have handed over seamlessly to the new guy with his appraisals, and Jim Goodwin will know exactly what he wants, which is a major bonus of team manager continuity.

It's a slow ish start admittedly but let's see where we are in two weeks.

I don't think that's the case, but i do think Bolton have put a bit of a spanner in the works signing two of our top targets (Sam Dalby and Richard Taylor), maybe we've also missed out on other top targets and are now having to source other targets instead.

I can't see any other reason why business has been so deadly slow given the amount of players we need to sign.

I looked at a highlights video, maybe the same one? the things that stood out for me was that [a] if thats his best saves for a highlights reel, we are in trouble [b] the second save was like a bar of soap, and very troubling and [c] HE SEEMS TO PUSH A LOT OF SAVES OUT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE GOAL

i hope united have seen something thats not showing in the video i watched?

Re: Summer Transfer Thread 25/26

Keeper’s the most important position in a team. If we even had a decent championship keeper in goals instead of him we do not say, we wouldn’t have been relegated in 2022.

I don’t mind scouting abroad for players but not for keepers until they’re proven.

We have Richards as a deputy. The last time we got relegated we had no decent backup.
