Why did we no sign him.
WTF is Goodwin playing at
Ogrens got to put more into the budget
Why have we signed him he's shite
It keeps me entertained through the summer
Just sit back and see what happens
An element of anxiety and anticipation is reasonable given the sheer number of players we need to bring in.
It's a bit different when you have a settled squad and you're just looking at 2 or 3 in and 2 or 3 out.
We don't have that. For the second year in a row we're looking at a major transfusion of players and although we got it pretty much right last summer it would be easy to suddenly find we've got it wrong.

The reality is everything is a risk and by definition inherently uncertain. You can have the best recruitment guy on the planet but if the funds are not available he can only sign dross. Compounding the problem we will never know how much money the Chairman makes available.
You then have the luck variable. You sign a great player (Docherty) and he is injured for half the season or the converse, you sign an injury prone player (Andy Webster) who has an immense season.
The one thing I like about United right now is the flat organisation structure - no Sporting Director, no DOF, no consultants. Hang on, do we need a set piece coach? Lol
Maybe it’s why football is the greatest sport.

I have a feeling we'll announce maybe 2 or 3 faces over the next week as June comes round and contracts come to an end across Europe.
Really hoping we've done at least a bit of business early. Especially with our complete lack of central defenders and starting GK.
And Strikers.
We have just lost Dalby, Moult, Watt, Paton, and i sincerely hope VDS departs this window.
That leaves us with just Owen Stirton.
We need fifteen signings, i reckon.
I expect we might see the start of that next week.

Exacto to all of the above but most especially last sentence.
You gotta love it football - on the one hand the half dozen wise axioms of football schoolars like Shankly/Stein/JYM/Ferguson , on the other a thousand and one intangibles along the way to getting the ball in the back of the net of your opposition more times than the reverse.
Back to transfers, you never really know until final hour on final day of silly season.
Credit where credits due last Summer silly season Jim pretty much got it spot on.
The manager has to pull more rabbits out of the hat than lemons, while twisting the chairmans arm and judicious shopping found of loan / out of contract players / blend of carefully nurtured Academy laddies within budget and get them signed in ample time to bed them in before this final hour on final day nonsense.
Bottom lines
- Rabbit vs Lemon ratio of 70%/30% is good - any more a bonus.
- Position in table, last years No. 1 was staying up staying up. No. 2 comfortable No. 3 - a dream - Europe
100% so far Jim.

Player contracts ending May '25 are up*. Hopefully we'll see a bit of activity in the coming week.
Stating the obvious there Redford 😀

Ex-funster Scott Bain’s been released by Celtic. Wouldn’t be totally against us signing him, he’s a prick, but he’s a very good keeper.
Signed for Falkirk.

So have we signed the boy Armstrong from Killie?
Was a rampant rumour about April time, died off about the split.

Reckon he'll follow McIness to Tynecastle.

Middleton rejects a contract and signs for Doncaster

Couldn’t be less arsed about Middleton leaving. He was mediocre for us at best and I can’t really think of a single game where I came away thinking “he was brilliant today”. Easily replaceable.

Words to describe Middletons time at UTD would be average, ok, gone missing,
Pulled out of that 50/50, is he still on, more effective in the championship, I've seen worse, never quite does enough, doesn't look fit.
We move on

2 goals, 4 assists in 35 appearances this season.

Absolutely not arsed about Middleton leaving.
Fingers left over when I count how many times he beat the first man on a cross. Last of the playing side of the Asghar tenure gone.

Saw this and thought I had already been on, commented, and forgotten. Nail on head.
Obviously didn't fancy the much lower contract to be a rotation option over the silver Asghar previously paid.
Really good at goals and assists against Arbroath but that's about it, won't be missed.

Couldn't have put it better.
I'd try and get Brandon Forbes back on loan (as cover) as well as obviously sign a new right sided winger.

Don’t blame him chasing the coin, but I’d struggle to find people absolutely arsed about losing him.
Might keep an eye on the Doncaster socials and watch their hope slowly die, cause you’d think they signed a mix of Robson and Swanson going by their video of him.

Of his 3 years (115 games i think) he played well in barely 1/3rd of them. He’s replaceable and we could probably save some money too on his Asghar wage.
In Jim we trust.

I totally agree in Jim we trust
Middleton was only going to be a squad player though I thought he had a decent attitude and goes with best wishes
My only concern is the rumours of discord. Just hope Jim is fully locked in and we can get plenty of decent players in

Rumours are probably shite, they usually are. The Internet is a powerful tool in the hands of a fucking idiot.
