I don't know what the solution is, but guys like Gallagher, Manny, Walton and Dalby were denied the chance to say goodbye today by that pitch invasion.
I do understand the euphoria and I've no idea how you stop fans, but I think it's a real shame.
What do other folk think?

I agree 100%
I get the fans excitement but it seems a bit selfish to the departing players.

Yeah bit of a shame but the young team were always going to do that and can see why the team never came back out with the Aberdeen player getting injured but once the pitch was cleared I would have liked them to come out.

Embarrassing from that tit on the tannoy, happens all over Britain. It’s all young laddies having a laugh, you get idiots in all supports canna help that.
Would have actually saved the police a job from segregating the fans at the back of the Eddie Thompson after the game

It was nothing to do with the tannoy announcer, they were just passing on police instructions.
There wouldn't have been a second invasion if the players had come back out though, that was obvious.

That lassie only comes on when the police have made a decision, I’m presuming she’s the one who made the decision was exact same at the Patrick thistle gem

I'm buzzing for the result but personally think a pitch invasion for that is a bit cringe.....but no reason to throw things.
Whether the person meant to hit a united fan or a dons player is immaterial- its a hugely stupid thing to do and has caused a lot of damage to a young lad just trying to do his job.
With a history of these sort of incidents in this fixture, police Scotland will have to take steps to stop it happening. So goodbye and chance of getting a pint in the stadium, goodbye friday night games and hello extra police costs, hello stricter policing.
Rules are made for the worst 'fans' - no better than the old firm
Ps I know we've had fans throwing stuff too - so we've got that element too

Did anyone else catch Willie Miller after the game on SportSound?
Very clearly trying to pin the blame on United fans for the boy Mckenzie being injured until Michael Stewart pointed out the chair had been thrown from the Aberdeen end. Then STILL tried to blame United for goading Aberdeen fans into doing it.
Might have been a decent player but a slavering mess of a pundit. Kudos to Michael Stewart for sticking to his guns on it after even more excuses from Miller.

Agree. Stewart spoke well. His clear point - pitch invasions are about uncontrolled emotion which is natural. It should have been about celebrating and the United fans goading the Aberdeen fans are idiots, but it doesn’t even begin to condone what happened next.
2 points I have. The goading is not much different to what happened all match. Especially in the corner of shed and ET where the fans are separated by a few meters. The goading was constant all match from both sides. That is part of what I love about Scottish football. The rivalry.
Second - if this was a one off I would have much more sympathy for the goading excuse. But this is the 3rd time in a year the Aberdeen fans have done the same thing and they weren’t goaded previously. They obviously think it is acceptable behaviour. The Police have done nothing about it and for me a lot of blame should be on them as well. No doubt United will get a bit of punishment here as well because the SFA is weak. Based on the repeated nature and the seriousness of yesterday I would be for Aberdeen fans being banned from all away games for a round of fixtures next season. I know that will never happen. In fact probably very little will.

The club should have done what they did in the last game last season which was to repeatedly announce that there should be no pitch invasion after the final whistle. That worked.

I guess the difference last season was there had already been two pitch invasions in the week before (v Ayr and Airdrie) so to a certain degree people had got it out of their system. An announcement yesterday that fans should remain in the stand and if they don't the players will immediately leave and not come back out night have done the trick.

I actually feel Miller may have a bit of a cognitive issue. He seems to struggle to recall names and words. Notwithstanding, irrespective of a pitch invasion, goading, ridicule etc if an individual vandalises a seat (criminal damage) then proceeds to throw it in the direction of a crowded pitch and it hits someone, it is a criminal matter. Intent is irrelevant. He/she/they were reckless as to the consequences of their actions. It’s akin to driving a car over the alcohol limit. You can argue that you didn’t intend to kill somebody, but, you were knowingly reckless as to the consequences of your actions.
What bothers me, is that, neither the Police or more likely the Stewards seemed to notice anyone defacing a seat. Or was it a case of, they did and decided not to intervene. Maybe the day of employing 3rd party agency stewards is over. Try to recruit stewards from our own support. Any United supporter would challenge someone ripping a seat out.

3 or 4 or things strike me:
1/ Was the seat bolted down properly ?
1/ How did the silly f___ get the seat off its mountings? My guess a bit gentle persuasion and a lot off shoogling about = malice aforethought.
2/ How do you have the heft to hurl a seat 5 metres in from touchline and scone a 6 foot guy on the nut. = malice aforethought
3/ => How was seat loose in the first place ? My money's on loose hold down nuts () anyhow if so in the off season replace all nuts with nyloc ones = problem solved.
Only the other week Aberdeen were apologising to St Mirren over abusive chants so irrespective of "goading" there is a significant scumbag element amongst SSB followers.
Hope this doesnae dint the young laddies confidence too much.
Apologies due to young MacKenzie and United.
As far as the invasion goes for me youthful exuberance and lack of braincells is a problem resulting in more frequent invasions. I don't know the answer - more asssertive voice on tannoy, more stewards. All cost money.
Great shame for Gallacher (especially after that performance) and others departing.
Not to mention a detraction from a magnificent performance.

One thing having seen the clip a few times is that I don't think there is any chance the seat was aimed at the player, I think it would be pretty much impossible to deliberately hit anything from that range with a plastic seat. I think it was just launched in the direction of the United fans, and unfortunately caught the player at a particularly bad angle.
None of this is a defence of the fan who did it in any way, shape of form, it was reckless in the extreme to throw a heavy plastic object into a crowd.

Pitch invasion was an odd one. No resistance whatsoever from the stewards or cops and indeed the head steward seemed to be beckoning folk on to the pitch (although in hindsight I think he was maybe just directing his staff to step back). I think that actually meant folk thinking that it was OK to do so.
I initially didn't go on but when I saw the rammy around McKenzie I thought I'd go for a closer look. Totally out of order from the seat chucker. Hope he gets the jail once caught. It was in someways lucky that it hit an Aberdeen player. Can you imagine what would have happened if it had hit a United fan (especially a kid). It would have ended up in a battle.
Aberdeen fans know who this is - they need to shop them. I spoke to the Aberdeen lads in the disabled section (perfectly friendly by the way) and they thought it was a United fan walloping McKenzie. It was a photographer that corrected them.
To be clear however, we've got the same issue with folk throwing stuff on the pitch and that really needs to stop. The reality is there are too few coppers in the grounds these days and the nuggets are taking advantage.

Whit !!??
Trying no tae get goaded here but:
Are you acting for the defence or prosecution here ?
"Impossible to deliberately hit anything" Mate it would be impossible NOT to hit someBODY not someTHING. - An inch higher MacKenzie could be blind in one eye.
"Unfortunately caught the player at a bad angle" - again Whit ! cannae believe this garbage - UNFORTUNATELY ..... CAUGHT ???
"Launched in the direction of the (goading) United fans" - Right - so it would be less of an idiocy if it a silly wee 13 year eejit United Fan had been hit ?
No two ways - catch the guy - you think he'd have previous, throw aways keys for another six months and give Dons 2 points deduction at the start of next season.
