Fletcher might be an option if it was mainly a coaching role (if he wanted to get into that) at no or little cost. I think we certainly need a striker coach. He's certainly an option from the bench and as Tek says he's clearly kept himself fit.
However, he couldn't play 90 minutes two years ago and that is not going to have improved. So unless he isn't taking the wage of a younger option its ultimately a no from me.

Steven Fletcher.
Out of contract at Wrexham on June 30th. They will now spend millions, he will be released.
Yes, he's 38 but he seems still very fit. Just scored 8 goals in English League One, 1 assist. Started only a few games, but made 40 appearances all in. So, obviously been fit all season.
Wouldn't be offering him the wage he was on previously, obviously, but i think he'd still do a job, either from the bench or starting.
We are losing a whole load of experienced players. Be good to have someone like him in the dressing room. Experienced, fit, strong, athletic, a presence, a bit of aura, a winner.
And before someone says something like 'he got us relegated'. He was very good in that season, particularly playing in such a poor side. Pretty much the only player who was. One of the best Striker's we've had in recent years.
. ... What's Safkranko doing ?
Or without being sarky, won't happen, we can do better.

Reagan Charles Cook apparently coming to the end of his contract in Belgium. I think he'll be mid - late 20's now and he knows the league and was a good player in a crap team.
Would he be a good signing or is that just a lazy suggestion by me?

Hibs after him, we couldn’t match them

He'd be a cracking signing if we could get him. Suspect he'll have offers.

Lynden Gooch, Jordan Thompson, Michael Rose and Enda Stevens have been released by Stoke City.
Michael Rose, experienced Scottish CH, only 29. That Jordan Thompson lad was at the huns a few years back. Was at Stoke for 5 years, apparently decent CM. Not sure on the other lads, I know Enda Stevens is about 35 and Gooch is/was an American internationalist.

He was a good player, but I always thought Hungbo who played for them that season, was a really good player. Both of those players have something we've been crying out for seasons, someone with bags of pace and a final product.

Huddersfield have released Danny Ward, Tom Lees, Matty Pearson, Ollie Turton, Josh Ruffels, Josh Koroma, Scott High, Loick Ayina and Conor Falls.
I remember Josh Koroma being a nippy striker, something we badly lack.

Glen Middleton being offered a deal on the back of having a 'fantastic season'
Anyone checked what they're putting in the water at St Andrews, and can I have some?

Instantly felt deflated as fuck about our Summer squad rebuild when i read Goodwin's quote.
Dearie, dearie me.

Or is this paper chat from Goodwin an attempt to get him to play out of his skin between now and the end of the season? A reverse to the supposed "Gallacher not trying cos he's not getting a new deal" scenario?

Middleton would have been one of three that I would have offered another contract to.
Would have preferred that Maswanise fella from Motherwell though.

Can just about live with this if he's on vastly reduced terms and we're targeting better wingers in the summer to have him as a backup from the bench. Fine if he's being kept for depth, not good at all if he's seen as a starter.

If it’s as a squad option as like 4th choice winger then I can kinda live with it, but we absolutely must be getting in better and quicker players on both flanks. Part of me is optimistic that Trapanovski will have a better second season now that he’s settled in and knows the Scottish game now, hopefully he comes back a bit stronger and more confident at running at boys. But we can’t take the risk that that will definitely be the case so have to look for better players to push both of them on.
I’m assuming Middleton will be offered a reduced wage in line with his ability/status as a squad player, cause surely Goodwin would back himself to find a better winger for the wages Glenn was handed under Asghar

Im not against middleton staying. Hes improved vastly with competition for his place and does a job. According to espn hes got the same number of assists as standard strain in the same number of games (I'd guess with more sub appearances).
Felt he has contributed much more this season than the likes of kai. Not to say hes worth rockstar money - if rests what he wants we should thank him for his service and wish him the best - but if he's in a place where he can accept a wage which reflects his squad status, great.
Tbh - I think hes been better over the piece than trapanovski who started brilliantly then went off the boil - albeit there's signs of improvement

This is pretty much where I am on Middleton. Compared to the season before, he has had a fantastic season. He's played better in a better league. If he has been a high earner then I do think it needs to come with a more realistic wage, but I am not too despondent on this. Hopefully we bring in players who will challenge him for game time and therefore we get the best out of him. Confidence is a big thing and he's still only 25 - best years should still be ahead of him.

I can’t believe anyone would accuse Middleton of having a fantastic season. He’s been mediocre at best.

Don’t mind Middleton he’s definitely got something about him but doesn’t show it enough, I’d keep aslong as it isn’t on Mega money.

Does kind of feel just because people don't hate him, you assume we think he is peak Pele.
Pretty sure most of the comments on him are largely aligned. OK, improved, should only stay if wage aligns with his position in the squad.
What we are facing currently is a summer where we MIGHT get european football and with the amount of players leaving, those coming in will barely know each other. Consistency isn't a bad thing.
