Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

Our biggest game of the season. We simply must win if we have any ambitions on 3rd place.

And a defeat would put even 4th place in jeopardy.

What XI and formation would you play?

My team would be -

..........................Walton...................
........Sevelj...Gallagher...Adegboyega
Strain...........................................Ferry
...........Babunski..Docherty..Sibbald
...................Dalby....VDS....

Subs - Richards, Harding, Moult, Trapanovski
Campbell, Fotheringham, Middleton, Paton, Fiorini

Snowball's of Jim picking this.
We''re no going 3rd if we don't attack
Midddleton/Trappa interchangeable
Babunski 1st drop

Subs - Richards, Harding, Moult, Babunski
VDS, Fotheringham
- leaves us threadbare if we do go one up.

Anyone going to this? Best place for United fans to go pre match?

Don’t think it’ll be far off this team.

Me and the missus for Campbell/Paton.   Fotheringham's there.

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

In the games we've gone 433 and  tried to attack teams (Dundee/Celtic) we've proved that we dont really have the personnel and the quality to do it.

I'd be quite happy to see the same formula that's served us well and carved out victories by nicking a goal against the odds. Keep it tight and open up as the game progresses.
Not sure about the lineup because I've no idea who's fit between Gallacher and Graham.

Has your missus got decent ball control?

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

Your missus would do a better job than Paton at hitting the ball and Fotheringham at everything to do with football in general.

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

For us to come away with a positive result on Saturday (not getting beat), then we need  the spine of our best 11 back.

Gallagher, Docherty, Sevelj and Dalby all need to play the full 90.

We could also be doing with a Middleton, Trapa,  Ferry or Strain coming up with something special to take the pressure off the big fella.

I've a sneaky feeling we are going to bounce back, 1 defeat in 14 at Easter road.

Let's hope it's a decent record that we still hold onto at FT on Saturday.

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

Not confident for this, I’ll take a draw for sure.

I think he'll play Campbell and Paton. He thinks if he keeps playing them something will change. It won't. It's madness.

I think we'll lose 2-0

I think post match he will say we were in the match for long spells, the goals both came at bad times.

I think we're done for this season.

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

Don't think he'll play Paton.  Surprised if he doesn't start Campbell.

Score depends on whether Hibs bubble has truly burst or not.  If they revert to pre- Aberdeen loss they'll win.  if they revert to pre-winning run Hibs they'll lose.

Delighted with a 1-0 smash and grab job, but suspect a draw will keep us in the mix as the Dandies won't win in Paisley.

You could be right but hope you are wrong.

I was up at the training session the other week and the lack of depth with what he has to work with was laid out, right in front of you.

17 outfield players trained and that included Stirton. Only 2 of them left footed and one experienced centre half.

We could just have run out of steam but fingers crossed we can squeeze another 4 performances out of the limited resources we have available.

A goal from one of the January recruits would help.

Or even VDS.

Personally think we’ll lose unfortunately.

I want to be wrong. I'm normally a very positive person but I look at the manner of the defeats to Dundee and Celtic and I get angry.
Then I look at the 3 x 1-0 victories and I think is that style enough to beat Hibs and I don't think it is.
Then I look at the key loss of Holt's experience and winning mentality and Stephenson and I just can't see enough.

(And while I'm on a rant jogging alongside an opponent isn't a tackle. If that opponent is beside you put a tackle in ffs or hand your shirt over, that really does my head in unless it's on the 18 yard line)

I feel we've lost a bit of edge, a bit of the die for the shirt mentality. I really hope I'm wrong, don't mean to be a negative norman for the sake of it.

Re: Hibs vs United - Saturday 3rd May

Hope we go back to 3 at the back. Pack the midfield with sibbald, doc, sev. I’d have Babunski playing off dalby and dropping back to midfield at times.

Play ugly. It is what has served so well this year.

Won’t be easy. Hibs are decent.

Agree about 3 at the back but does two of them need to be Gallagher and Graham to release Svelj into midfield?
Is Graham fit?

Nope, still injured.

Got two centre half ( one of them not 100%) and a young laddie.
