Luca has played his last game of the season and will be returning to Liverpool for a planned operation.
On behalf of everyone on the forum, thank you Luca, and the very best of luck for the future. Maybe we'll see you back one day.

Wtf? Where did this come from?

Heard this earlier this morning. Needs a hernia operation.
We have a two week break now, hopefully Vicko Sevelj is back when we return Post-Split.

Luca has been great for us.
Seemingly a nice lad too.
That diving header will live long in the memory.
Has given everything for the shirt no matter where he's been asked to play. If he's played his last game for us I wish him all the best and will watch his career with interest.

Not giving up on him returning but yeah absolutely 👍

Been a terrific player for us no matter what position he’s been asked to play. Mr. Consistent along with Vicko, Walton and Gallagher and gives his absolute all every game he plays. It says it all about him and his character that he’s been playing through the pain for the last 4 months for a loan club when most loan players would’ve been away down the road getting it seen to. Heart of a lion.
Would love to see him back next season but if not then we’ve got to thank him for his hard work and dedication, and wish him all the best wherever he ends up in the future.
Amazing that all 4 loan signings we made in the summer probably go down in the top 10 best loan signings in our history.

A great point, superbly made.
Alongside Webster, Flood and Safranko, they are our best ever loanees.
Its not ideal to have too many on loan, but this season it's worked a treat. Well done Jim.

Levitt’s definitely up there too. I liked Safranko, but what did we really achieve with him in the team?

Scott McDonald actually outscored him that season.
He was a good player, but vastly overrated imo.

Safranko came the season after McDonald. I liked him, but 12 goals in the Championship is hardly anything to write home about. That he was so revered says more about the level of player and effort we were used to at that time.

Well, scored more goals than him any roads.
Even though McDonald was 34 and playing in a poorer side.

One of the best young players we've had at Tannadice. Hope he can go on to build a good career for himself. Another season at United would be ideal...!

Great for us but I can't see him being a Liverpool regular.

Agree. Been a great signing for United. Mostly played out of position. Great attitude.
No danger he is getting close to being the new TAA. Even guys like O’Riley struggle with the jump to the premiership.
Would take him back all day long, but would guess he will get a championship team on 5x the money we can offer.

If the reasoning is that Stephenson has been playing through the pain barrier since Xmas, so now his season is done, what damage could 5 more games do if we managed him through them?
So maybe it taking 2+2 = 5, but Liverpool want hm back, fit and ready to try and sell on given the attention he's been getting up here.

He's their player, they will want him back for pre season either there or elsewhere. With the sort of money they have, I don't think cashing in on him for a modest fee will be a huge driver as such, more a secondary consideration.

All of the above.
Awra best young man, get weel.
Verstile tireless, hard working,on and off the ball.
If we do miraculosly get the opportunity to have him back, you'd struggle to get better.

Very much sounds like he wants to come back to United next season.

He comes across well in that interview. Can never fault his efforts and sounds like he’s been playing through the pain barrier for a number of weeks.

As soon as Luca was ruled out for the post split games my first thought was who takes that shirt. And will it weaken us.

My question is who covers for Ferry when he picks up his 12th yellow to suspend him for 2 games.

Yep, very likely to happen in one of the upcoming games.
Svelj can play there, Middleton can also do a job if he has a bit of protection ahead of him.
