I don’t know if this would be our best team but i wouldn’t mind seeing us go with it. The back 4 and 2 sitting are solid, we would have good attacking options up the pitch and a strong bench. None of this pathetic lack of ideas that we saw at parkhead.

Felt we were slightly more effective on the right when Stephenson was playing there early in the season when Strain was out. Pains me to say Middleton but I'd say attacking wise he probably offers a bit more than Fotheringham... maybe. Tbh, Trap, Middleton, Fotheringham, also Miller T and Meshack when they were here haven't offered much on the wings this season but I think with any other formation we're too narrow.

When I first started watching football it was pretty simple. Usually there was 11 first choice picks, one for each position.
They got picked each week and because of that they got to know each other's game and became a fluid team. Which worked pretty well in the main. If one got injured the youth from the reserves stepped up.
OK I'm exaggerating but that's how it used to feel.
Now it's a 23 man squad that needs rotation for the low block and 451 442 343 433 352 and sometimes it just pisses me off.
Watch any Sky Sports football match and count the ludicrous commentary statistics from kick off. Fuck off, just commentate on the game.
It's a game I love but sometimes I wonder where it's heading.
Back on topic, the answer is I don't know and I don't think Jim Goodwin really knows either.

Maybe easier to say who if fit definitely plays.
Walton, Ferry, Gallagher, Docherty &Dalby.
I haven't seen enough of Campbell, Paton & Fiorini to comment.

Midfield 3 of Docherty Sibbald Svelj would be our strongest?

Maybe.
Still think an in form Trapanovski would be a great watch but ......
Edit to add, the Fiorini/Campbell recruitment is looking a bit odd to me.

He might yet come good but I was extremely disappointed with Campbell on Saturday. I thought he'd have a lot more about him given the level he has played at. He wouldn't be anywhere near my preferred XI right now.

Yeah mate, I know it's digressing but many moons ago it was:
Mackay, Rolland, Briggs, Gillespie, Smith, Wing, Seeman, Perrson, Dossing, Berg, cannae mind the other.
The Scandinavians dropped off, Persson went to Huns, but the first five must have been concrete for 5 years or more.

Anyway my thoughts on current crop, based on then albeit unrealistisic scenario of no injuries and all on form:
Walton
Manny Gallacher Graham
Sevelj Docherty Sibbald Ferry
Trappa Middleton
Dalby
..... Leaves Dalby with an immense amount of work but I'd forgo that for width.
All conjecture, cannae see it happening.

A little bit weak down the right side 😉

I do think it’s time for Graham to phase Holt out
it’s beyond time actually

I think it's time for anyone to phase out our #16.

I agree that the 3-5-2 has been the best so far but I'd like to see the 3-4-3 that he tried initially now we have arguably better options around the park. Granted that may switch to a 5-4 -1 when we are without the ball/under pressure but it seems the best chance of us being more of a threat upfront. When we go with two upfront, given who we have to do that the lack of width kills anything approaching progressive and also kills options for an out ball from defence.

It's been harsh on Ross Graham but Holt has been fantastic for us this season. Absolute warrior at both ends of the pitch. Set up the winner at Dens, scored the winner v Aberdeen. His defensive blocks have been immense.
To be fair if Ross was two footed he would have got more game time. Probably will be a first choice next season.
