Are we expecting any signings this window? The rumours of JR seem to have gone away?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Why are United always so slow to do any business in January?

Constantly seeing other teams signing players. Can't remember the last time we got signings in early in this window.

The cynical, yet hopeful, part of me thinks we might have a pacy striker over the line but we're saving the announcement for tomorrow morning as a morale boost after a potentially heavy defeat...

JR was never on, he's staying in the US. I suppose his name will get mentioned every window now though. That is until windows slam shut

Re: January Transfer Window

He's not signed for anybody as far as I'm aware, thus why I was a bit confused.

Shame rhough - he'd have been a good signing for a year

Wonder if he’ll follow there manager to Dunfermline

If he was allowed to and so on, that would be a good move for us and him.

Maybe Jeff Shipman has come back to work as a consultant.

Re: January Transfer Window

Cash bid in for Holt, from Derry City.

May explain him being “50/50”, and Harding’s return. It’d be an odd move though imo. If it happens at all.

Heard Liam Boyce heading to Derry

That would be a strange move indeed. They already have two of our ex-players (Mark Connolly and Paul McMullan). But i did wonder with the Sam Harding recall if someone would depart. I actually assumed it might be Ross Graham.

Where are Derry getting the money all of a sudden?

Re: January Transfer Window

You'd like to think Holt would be looking to extend his contract with us and us with him seeing as he's probably playing at the highest level he ever has and playing well.  Don't see us being certain to improve on him with £100K to spend so I'd prefer to keep him and extend if needed.

Re: January Transfer Window

Of all the players I expected to see linked with a move away this window, Holt wasn't top of the list. 32 year old this month albeit in the form of his life.

Can't imagine he'd be desperate to go to Derry unless they are offering the security of a 3+ year deal and very good wages which not many players at this level get at his age.

Can see why the club would be tempted to cash in given his contract is up end of the season and we have 2 replacements in Graham and Harding.

RossGraham is a good replacement.

£100k for Holt? I'd bite  their fucking hand off.

Re: January Transfer Window

If it's 100K then I wouldn't be accepting that, he's been excellent for us this season and played a huge part in getting us into 3rd position.

The target for this season was 10th and that's what we should have budgeted for, we get top 6 then we will gain much more than 100K.

Do we have a better chance to make top 6 with Holt in the squad, yes.

The only reason he should be allowed to go is if we have a replacement and the player want to go (see Morphman 3 year deal).

Who ever thought we would see the day where this would even be a debate, testiment to the player and coaching staff.

Re: January Transfer Window

Get rid of Holt? Dinnae think so. He's playing the best football of his career. He's on top of his game.

Re: January Transfer Window

Latest from JG

"Dundee United have been "inundated with requests" from agents and players in the transfer window so far, according to boss Jim Goodwin.

The manager believes United's good standing in the table has made them a more attractive destination to players looking for a move in January.

"We have been inundated with requests from agents and from players," Goodwin said. "It's just about us going through that list of players and making sure we identify the right characters and the players with the right ability to strengthen us."

"You want to come out of the window stronger than you went into it. I think it is an attractive proposition for a lot of agents and players.

"You're not asking someone to come in and be a part of a relegation dogfight where confidence is low.

"You're asking players to come in and be a part of a really positive culture and try and help this team stay in the top six."

I wish we would hurry up identifying the players we want.

Ten days in and not even a rumour of a signing.

A player who shares his name with a great Hungarian nationalist hero.
That won't save him from the GF experts if he plays a loose pass on his debut.

Jack Newman has signed for Livingston until the end of the season on loan.

Re: January Transfer Window

Given that JG has said we have signing targets identified for this window I'm assuming they either have other offers to consider in addition to ours or waiting til closer to the end of the month to commit.

These windows can be frustrating because some teams will sign several untested players while we wait to see if there's any incoming.

Probably a rumour started by their fans to piss us off.
Can't see Dalby wanting to go up there. If he leaves Wrexham I'm expecting it'll be for an English side.
