Starting XI and formation for the Derby?
Offline
Hopefully no injury surprises we don't know about. Very important to start our best 11 and get the job done a bit earlier please 😎
That means Docherty should come in to give us more bite and drive, probably at the expense of Babunski.
Trapanovski should have scored that header but he's looking like he's rediscovered his form, I'm expecting him to start this one.
Will JG change the CB partnership? Not if Manny and Holt say they're re happy to go again.
Can we get through this period without tiredness affecting form, only time will tell. For the manager it's a difficult balance between rotation to keep freshness and rewarding current form.
Walton
Strain Addy Holt94 Ferry
..Ševelj Stephenson
Kai Docherty Trapanovski
...Dalby
Prediction 0-1 Meshak 90+6 😆

Sorry but it's the derby, we have to play our strongest 11 and on current form Middleton has to play

They've got real injury problems but had a good win at Paisley despite those. By all accounts they went route one and by-passed the midfield. On that basis, I'm thinking we probably revert to the back three and Graham comes back in.
Key to this one is a good strong start. Get a couple of goals up and they'll collapse like the old days and have little to add off the bench due to injuries.
On paper we should win this one, but its a derby. The only game of the season, (bar finals - wishful thinking) that I still get butterflies before kick off.

It was difficult to leave Middleton out of the starting 11 but I'm keeping him for impact as a HT sub against a tiring and demoralised team.
We might even see both Middleton and Trap in the starting lineup, Goodwin has been hard to guess recently.

I guess it's a good problem to have really

Btw the Daily Record and Sportsmole are both saying that Gallagher is back for the derby after his one game suspension, I thought it was two games though?

I’m gonna go with, they’re just guessing cause they couldn’t give a fuck, cause it’s not the OF.

Yeah. I was basing that on maybe not needing to bring Glen on at Dens with the Hearts game coming up so soon after this one. But I doubt JG is thinking like that. We've done well focusing just on the next match each time so I won't be at all surprised if Middleton starts or even both start in an effort to run them over.

Probably. But it's surprising how many fans and journalists don't know the basic laws of the game.

I think he will mix it up again, to date
He has managed to navigate his way through this congested period of fixtures very well.
How long can we squeeze out of Docherty? Must be getting closer to the hour mark by now.
Does he gamble again with Babunski who was to be honest, miles off it vs Aberdeen.
Stick with a four or revert back to a three🤷♂️
Sevelj I thought albeit by the high bar he has set, looked a bit tired vs Aberdeen at times (no wonder the effort he puts in).
I don't watch a lot of that mob but I think there weak point is down their left, which is our strongest with Ferry and Middleton.
4-5-1 for me.
Strain, Mani,Holt and Ferry
Fotheringham, Docherty, Sevelj , Middleton
Thompson

Apparently Babunski got a groin injury against Aberdeen. No idea how bad but i think it will almost certainly make Goodwin's mind up to play Docherty ahead of him.
Hopefully Strain is ok after going off on Sunday. If not i'd play Luca RWB.

Docherty for Babunski, leave it at that.
Whilst we let Aberdeen have a lot of the ball, I was really pleased how we pressed them when we needed to.
Their only real chance came from a moment of slackness from Sevelj, rather than anything they did.

From:
Walton
Addy Holt Graham
Strain (if fit) Ferry
Sevelj Stevenson
Middleton (interchangeable) Trapper
Young Miller
Dalby
Subbies: Babunski (if fit), Docherty, Kai, Van Sande, Richards
but really I've nae idea what starting XI or shape will be other than Ferry at wing back's a must, too good of a weapon to be in a 4.
Glad it's Jim making up he's mind.
Go for the jugular from minute 1.

The odds have been interesting. Money on us
A week ago the Fun were actually favourites, albeit narrowly, I think someone commented on here.
Since then the odds have leveled out, 7/4 home & away, 2/1 the draw.
But this morning Fun 2/1, Utd 6/4, 5/2 the draw.
Referee is Steven McLean, we've had him twice this season, Sheep away, Killie home.
My binman has just told me we've sold another 300 tickets for the Auld Hun Stand that the home support didn't need. If you're one of the 300 be careful up there.

How we all feeling then?
I’m a bag of nerves. Always will be in these games.
Hope we smash the minks.

Derby is always a leveller and underdogs sometimes win.
Hopefully today isn't one of those days. If we play to our potential the gulf in quality should mean we take the 3 points.
Was more nervous for the Dons game, was stood up kicking every ball for 94 minutes 😆

A bit more relaxed than I would be if I had managed to get a ticket.
We should be going there looking to win, but their injury crisis might give them a bit of a siege mentality.
Wouldn't cry if we drew today, but knocked them out the cup.

I listened to the game on BBC Scotland and thought the commentators were dreadful! I don't know who they were but their BNB bias was evident right from the beginning. And they continually interrupted each other, as well as both talking at the same time. Poor show, BBC, But a great performance from United to take third place in the Premiership! Thank you, Jim Goodwin and the team.....

While the delirium wears aff, I’m patiently waiting on the Plummer report.

Mate I didnae ken where tae start on Aiberdeen game - would have ended up writing University paper.
This one's mebbe a wee bitty easier tae sum up - best team won in the end in an at times scrappy affair.
Once again Goodwin's subbies a masterstoke (apart from Odada).
Overall the stat of 16 goals in last 15 mins sums up fitness, resolve, ability to wind down clock (and often to fast break).
Who was hunting for winner ? ... Manny to Strain, pin point raking ba to Holt on left wing !! , precision cross, Sam clinical finish followed in by Van Sande and Manny in close attendance. Quality. 88mins. Yaaasssss !!
Great tae see the Barista back post throw again.
Throwing themselves under buses for one another and for the shirt.
MOTM: Stuffed if I know. Mebbe give it to Strain who's becoming no just unsung/steady but a bit ae a weapon down the right.
- - - - - - - - - - -
And as for that twat referee - gets it wrong, cannae make up he's mind, let's play run for 3-4 secs before calling play back for fouls - consequence - naebody kens wtf's going on. Has tae have annoying debating sessions becos he loves the sound of he's ain voice.

I thought we looked a bit jaded for periods. Maybe the number of matches catching up with us bit. Didn't see us playing much football but the substitutions changed that. Again.
Big Ross was commanding and sharp, changed the whole attitude across the pitch.
Svelj just gets better and better.
Dalby what a cracking finish from a pinpoint Holt cross, a real sickener for the home fans to see Kevin Holt with the assist.

Oh and as Finn says - that stat about goals scored when Jort arrives 😎

They’re not world beaters.
They might individually have a shite game.
But by fuck this current crop will run through brick walls, not just for Goodwin, not just for us, but for each other.
That’s been missing for more than a decade with this club and you’ve got guys who looks average looking for a European adventure in 6 months.
What a set of lads!

Had to go back and check this but Babunski not in the squad today. Hope it's not serious because we need as many fit players as possible in the next couple of weeks.
