Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Eh thought it was daft to be sitting aff them when they had possession in and around their box, but ye could see that they were finding it hard to play an out ball, because they only had 7/8 outfield players to pass to against oor 10.

Huvna checked that stats, but we musta had twice as many attempts as they did. Guess they had mair overall possession, but you do when you just kick the ba side to side across the back so much. Walton hardly had anythin to dae in the 2nd half. Canna remember him hae'in to mak a save.

Dinna hae a lot oe good to say aboot Brother Beaton and the men in black. The wee shitebag Duk the plook shoulda been cairded twice and shoulda been aff. As fir the "was it or was it no Penalty", it just maks an utter chunt oe Brother Beaton and the Var(se).

As we're approaching Hogmanay fast, may i suggest a remix.........

"The Northern Shite of Old Aberdeen".

MOTM Holt the bolt.

A Happy New Year to all Arabs when it arrives and FTDs !

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Another great, hard fought win. This side work hard for every point and the credit for that goes to Jim Goodwin, who i am pleased for tonight.

He must be absolutely delighted to get a win against the Dons, who's support showed themselves up again throwing a vodka bottle at him, it was coins the last time. I know his spell there ended in disaster and ignominy, but what the Hell did the guy do to deserve such vitriol? He was always respectful towards Aberdeen even after the sack.

To keep a clean sheet against Celtic and Aberdeen in the space of 7 days (with a comeback win in Perth sandwiched in between) is some going, particularly without big players like Declan Gallagher and Louis Moult.

Another big fixture on Thursday where the players will have to give absolutely everything if we are to get a result, but knowing this group of players i am relaxed that 100% effort will be given win, lose or draw.

Lastly, Happy New Year to all TT members when it comes. In a United respect it's been a very good year for us all, winning the Championship and then our great form in the Premiership giving us a good chance at perhaps making Top 6, which is where the club should always be aiming to be.

On a personal note if 2024 has been a tough one for you i hope next year is a better one and brings you both good health and better fortune.

Final, final point - Crowd of 13,581 with three of those stands full of Utd supporters. Our crowds have never been better, unbelievable support these days. Long may it continue.

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Doesn’t get better than a last minute winner against the sheep at a full Tannadice.

Makes a big difference having our fans in the shed rather than O/F or Aberdeen.

Defence superb again. Can’t remember last time we were so good at throwing bodies on the line and stopping shots.

Our corners were good yesterday too. A few were crap delivery and one short free kick in first half was dire. But Mixed it up a lot and the short ones generally were very dangerous.

Fans immense. There is a just a feel good factor at the club and in the stadium at the moment.

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Delighted for Jim Goodwin and the players, the gave everything for the badge last night (again) and got everything they deserved.

Seen a few wee videos that the club have since released, those guys are on cloud nine tight now like the rest of us. At full time they just hugged each other and jumped about like everyone in the stands.

There's so many positives to note, that we would be here all day, but a couple of the stand out were Will Ferry (again) and Walton who bailed out Sevelj after slack play and prevented a certain goal.

Kevin Holt (not for his goal) that sir is how you do it.Missing Gallagher and Docherty not starting,  he led the team, he won every header, every tackle and set the tone. Well done that man.

An excellent end to very satisfying year.

As an aside, we need to be playing in tangerine as often as possible. Fuck that neon purple shite right off for a start. No reason we shouldn't be able to play in our home kit on Thursday either.

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Every player played their part last night.  What a save from Walton to keep the clean sheet - I was just waiting for the net to bulge.  Defence was solid and bar that save, they didn't really look like doing much. Holt was excellent and Manny just gets better.  Strain and Ferry both had good games.

Sevelj didn't have his greatest game for me, but made some good blocks and won the ball well.  Stephenson had benefitted from a rest in the previous game.  Though he was very good - had a knack (as does Sevelj) of being able to nick the ball off opponents well - they really closed the game down well (as did Docherty when he came on).

Babunski had moments, but I am increasingly worried about his engine.  Doesn't seem to be able to keep up with play at times and against that Aberdeen team there is no room for passengers (which is why I think Docherty on was the right move).  I do however think Babunski's role as captain is important - the other players clearly look up to him and his football intelligence is clear.  It just hasn't quite clicked into place for him for me.

Trapa gives us the benefit of having options on both wings and looks to be slowly getting back to what we saw at the start of the season.  Dalby was quiet for me, but he's a nuisance and is starting to lead the line better and hold up play is improving.  Middleton's confidence makes such a difference.  Another that I would have been happy to have left at the end of last season who, with a bit of a Goodwin arm around the shoulder seems to have turned a corner.

Fotheringham brings energy and thought he did well when he came on.  Lastly vdS, no discernible impact on the game, but I'd like to see a stat of goals scored when he is on the pitch vs when he is off.  I think he adds something.  He draws defenders because of his physicality, and given he never seems to be in the right place maybe that's a good thing...?

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Love the sheep shagging cunts moaning about the Polvara card and foul, as the pundits have been keen to point out on many occasions over the last few weeks, we've been given pens for minimal contact, questioning whether there was enough contact to go down.

Fotheringham dod no more that gently press his hands onto him, he's 6'4" but not surprised he rolled about with a name like Dante.

The minute he handled then ball then complained, stonewall yellow.

Got to say I hate this one anywhere on the park and too many players do it.  Polvara's was three offences, obstruction, simulation and deliberate hand ball - should have been sent off!  That would have given the SSB something to actually moan about.

Never get tired of watching an injury time winner v them or them across the road.
Anyone else notice in one of the wee promotional clips put out by the club that one of the signs in the dressing room says Be Aggressive. (Was a very fleeting view) If so that's a simple but brilliant motivational message before you go to the tunnel.

I've followed this club for many many years but I don't recall seeing a side that had this never say die spirit about them. Maybe memory is fading a bit 😎 but the character and determination this lot have is just amazing to watch.

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Not to put a downer on anything but we need to enjoy every minute of these highs because in less than 6 months time Walton Adegboyega Stephenson and Dalby might all be away.

Meantime it's pretty fucking amazing seeing them all celebrate like they're permanent signings.

No what you mean, but I think that is just the way of it now.  Keep a good core of players, have a good season try to add to that core from the loanees, have a bad season pap them back to their own clubs.

I'd like to think we can keep Walton and Dalby as they are both a little older than the other two.  Manny and Luca will rightly be away and on to better things.

I think we will really struggle to keep SJW.

Re: United Vs Aberdeen - Sunday 29th January (5.15pm)

Recruitment has been spot on last season and this, bar the odd hiccup, so regardless I think we'll be alright.

A big part of it is Goodwin, he's identified who he needs and got them in, perhaps the lesser budget than he had at Aberdeen has made him tread more carefully.

I think the fans may also need to be totally onboard with what the club are doing, this has been a cracking start, it's a great foundation to build on for the 2nd half of the season, but if it tails off, we drop out the top six, then we need to 'keep the heid'

By all means if performances aren't good enough, voice your displeasure, but as long as they're running through walls for the manager/each other then we'll be ok.

We should definitely be looking towards top six, possibly Europe depending on what places offer that, but look at how shite Hibs have been, 4 wins and they're right in the pack, it can change so quickly, and whilst results have been great, quite a few games could've gone either way.

I still haven't got over this brilliant victory against the sheepshaggers when we go and beat the tramps that live next door! So many great results recently it'shard to keep up. One more tomorrow would just round it off nicely before we head to Glasgow.
