January is coming thick and fast and I have been analysing where we need to improve.
Looking at players in their final six months, that would improve us for next season and beyond I would try and talk to the following:
Lyall Cameron from the filth.

No name.
But Pace. Up. Front.

A striker with pace
A back-up left back (preferably one who can play in a back 4)
Ideally:
A midfielder who doesn't break down every three games without explanation.

Tom Tonks, Tamworth Town. Not a CF but his throw-ins reach the far post.
What a weapon. I only saw the last 15 minutes but apparently it caused havoc all game.
The goal that won it, he launched one to the far post under the bar & the goalie punched it in under a mob of players.
Tamworth 1 Huddersfield 0. FA Cup 1st round, live on BBC 2.

Number 1- We need to strengthen in the middle of the park, need someone who can play a dozen games or so without requiring to visit the hospital.
Number 2- a right sided CH or possibly drop Sevelj in there once the above is sorted.
Number 3- Pace up front.

Moving players on who our out of contract - I would tell the following that they are not getting a new deal
Gallagher
Moult
Holt
Docherty
Newman
Middleton
Would give Babunski another year - he would be great with a new manager in a proper system, played in his ideal position.
The ones above are not good enough if we really do want to be a top 5 side.
Would go for Stuart Findlay and Danny Armstrong (both OOC at Killie in the summer) to replace Gallagher and Middleton

First player i would be doing everything to keep is Jack Walton, but i highly doubt that’ll happen. He will definitely have a host of suitors down south.

to be fair to any of these lads, if they aren't in line for a new contract get them telt, it gives them a chance to start looking for something.
There's also some of the young lads, someone will have a list of the out of contract players.

The point earlier re ‘what do we do in training?’
I think it’s just pull muscles and practice long throws

I'm assuming you mean the throwing bit rather than what happens once the ball lands in the box bit?

Johnny Russell’s been released by Sporting KC. If he still has the legs for it, I’d 100% have him back if he’s planning to move back to Scotland

4 years ago he said =inheritScotland striker Johnny Russell would not rule out playing in the SPFL and says a return to first club Dundee United would be particularly appealing.Russell, 30, is now in his third season with Major League Soccer outfit Sporting Kansas City.He left Tannadice for Derby County in 2013 and has won 14 Scotland caps."I had a great relationship with the fans - hopefully at some point I will maybe get the chance to get myself there," Russell said of United."I wouldn't say I have got a desire to come back - I love it where I am - but I would never turn my nose up to come back and play in Scotland."
Really means nowt though.

Vargas of Hearts rubishing Scottish football whilst away on International duty with Costa Rica.
Wanting away in January, thinks it's shite here.
He'll say he was mis-reported & loves the Jambos.

It's not like he's done anything to raise the standard is it.
Has a thread on Jambos Kickback all to himself, 5 pages of how shite he is.
Might as well stay in Costa Rica tbh.

On the face of it a no brainer and social media is full of bring him home stuff but I'm not convinced. Counter intuitive? Yes.
I'm not so sure we would sign him even if the money was right.
We have a very tight knit squad, very bonded, and the player recruitment model is based on future potential.
Fantastic player, will be interesting to see where he goes.

Big IF he wants to come home but JR is a leader in the US. The fans and teammates seem to love Jonny F***ING Russell - so I doubt integration into the senior part of the squad would be an issue.
It will only happen if he wants it though. We won't 'convince' him with money - he's made multiple times more than he ever will at united... and there's a good chance he can stay in kc and live a v comfortable life being adored by their fans.
