What XI and formation for Sunday?
Offline
Walton
Manny Gallagher holt
Thomson Stephenson sevelj ferry
Middleton dalby trapa
If docherty is fit I’d start him and put Stephenson back to RWB.

...............................Walton.....................
........Adegboyega..Gallagher...Graham...
....Thomson......................................Ferry
.......Stephenson...Babunski..Odada
.......................Dalby.....Moult....
Subs - Richards, Holt, Sevelj, VDS
Fotheringham, Strain, Middleton, Trapanovski, Ubochioma
If Moult and Graham both trained today , tomorrow and Saturday then throw both back in the starting XI. Both massive players for us. And i think it's time to see (in the absence of Sibbald and Docherty) if Odada can sink or swim. He might just surprise us.
And Dalby needs a partner beside him.

Not that I would disagree cos I do like him but Louis Moult's stock has gone up.
A couple of months ago he was sub material but now he's in starting XIs.
The alternatives not cutting muster?
January window job but where do you look??

We only have three forwards.
Sam Dalby - Can take a goal but looks pretty isolated and not great on the ball
VDS - Not bad link up but never seems to be anywhere near the opposition box
Louis Moult - Can still finish but often injured and at his age not always risked when has niggles
All of them are all a bit too similar also.
Owen Stirton is too young and will never get a look in this season (despite being the same age as Lennon Miller).
Which only leaves Kai Fotheringham as an option to play in a role that isn't really his position (what is his position?), but unlike many others in our squad he has actually put the ball in the back of the net for Utd on occasion.
Our main business in January has to be a Striker and they must be mobile and have pace and can finish.
I also want a player who will play week in week out. A bit sick of the narrative surrounding players like Moult where we can't risk them on plastic or them playing three games in a week might be too much for them etc etc, and it's just accepted that this is normal or standard practice. It shpuldn't be.
Sign some one a good age, who is coming up to their peak years (22-28).

Do you have a name in mind, or is that just a wish list?

No, i have no one player in mind.
We appointed a Head of Recruitment (Michael Cairney) to do that task and he has a few months in between each transfer window to identify the desired player. That's up to him to deliver.

It won't happen but I'd leave Ferry out. He looked absolutely fucked right from the start on Wednesday and is clearly carrying a knock. We need him back firing not toiling at about 70%.

Who are you replacing him with though?

Todays' two games are 12th v 5th & 10th v 7th.
Have a look at the league - has there ever been a season with 9 relegation candidates?

A very frustrating first half.
Ferry beaten far too easily AGAIN at the back post.
Two midfielders in the middle as far too predictable when in possession (usually it go back the way) and sleeping when we are not in possession. Far to easy in the middlenof the park for Hibs.
Massive 45 coming up, changes required, if we take anything from this match it's a positive.

Decent point which i would have taken before the match.
Wish we had shown a wee bit of composure when they were all over the place in the additional time, the Hibs players heads must be like scrambled eggs with the amountbof late goals they have shipped.
One more game before the international break and one we should benlooking to pick up all 3 points.
Least said about that ref the better, hopeless for both teams, will take it but that's as soft a pen as we will get, maybe even the softest I've ever seen us being awarded. We will take it though.

Worst performance of the season that today. Very, very lucky to get a point. Main points for me:
Holt not good enough at this level.
Ferry, poor defensively and beaten in the air (again) at the goal.
Sevelj and babunski in the midfield together doesn't work and Odada made a difference.
Starting Strain was a madness decision and he looked well off it.
Gallagher fairly poor also.
Walton, Dalby and Middleton the only ones with pass marks for me and the latter two weren't brilliant either.
Bailed out by an unbelievable VAR intervention, watched about 8 replays of it and I still can't see a pen.

Utterly stole a point there against a poor team with no confidence. We should have set up to go at them. No way we had to sit back and soak up pressure. That seemed to be the tactic.
Goodwin changed it early again and tried lots of different things to try and get more. At least we were better and it was more even 2nd half.
Odada looked ok when he came on and didn’t look out of place in the team. Maybe he will keep improving. Considering how many crosses and corners came in the box the defence stood up well.
Badly need Graham, Doc and Sibbald back. Probably Moult as well even though he hasn’t played much this year.
Also, my first time at hibs since they completed the new stand. Is a nice stadium now. No atmosphere though.

We got so many shit VAR decisions in our relegation season that I'm fucking taking it whether it's a penalty or not tbh. We've been done by dodgy hun refs and shite VAR calls too many times so it's our turn to get the rub of the green in my opinion.
I'd be going 4 at the back incidentally, with Adegboyega and Graham as soon as he's back. I'd be moving Gallagher and Holt on at the end of the season too, unless they legalise euthanasia before then.

We stole a point there by being given a penalty for fuck all.
A turgid, brutal, powderpuff performance.
Hardly surprising though as Goodwin started with 7 defenders on the pitch.
Eye bleeding stuff.

Personally would like to see Kai or Miller Thompson up with Dalby for flick ons/knock downs. Having a striker with an ounce of pace certainly gives defenders something else to think about. Or perhaps Dalby up top with Kai, Middleton, and Miller Thompson interchanging in and around him. Give us some creativity and pace going forward.

Seen the penalty decision back and i now see why it was given. It was soft, but these days those are given.
Stick by the rest of what i said though.

Cannot believe hibs never got one, if you give one you need to give the other- I’d be absolutely fuming if it was other way about.
Got away with one today
Think it’s time for the 3 at the back to be binned, would like to see 433/4231 being used against county.
Defending crosses is becoming a real issue, we seem happy to let crosses come in to the box but the wing backs aren’t the best at defending the back post esp ferry - that would be a concern if we do go to a back 4.

Not seen either penalty shout yet but Hibs seem to be raging that they never got their claim as it was stronger than what we got one for.
Pleasing to see us get the rub of the green for once, but by Christ we were poor and very lucky to get a point today.

Hibs goal - Manny get a thread of Hibs boy's jersey, get's pinged, quick free kick, goal.
Our goal - Hibs boy has hold of Manny's jersey, get's pinged, penalty, goal.
Saw end on shot on DUTV - crystal. Side on shot shows next to nothing.
Tbf Manny went down like a sack ae spuds to earn draw - mebbe making up for last week.

He's looked a pale imitation of the player who started the season.
But we literally have no-one else to play LB/LWB.

For 95% of that game we were absolutely dire, so i was happy enough to sneak a point. I think ours was a pen but there’s also was a pen so we got away with it big time. On the starting team, strain should never of started, that’ll do him good for fitness but he’s still not 100%. The 3 at the back has to go also. Thought Odada played well we he come on, he looks like he could add something.
Team v county, we need a win. Nothing else would be acceptable-
Walton
Luca
Odeboyega
Graham
Ferry
Docherty (if unfit then Sevelj)
Odada
Fotheringham
Babunski
Middleton
Dalby
Subs: Richards, Strain, Gallagher, Holt, Thomson, Sevelj, Trapa, Jort, Moult

Btw how stupid was it to have Trapanovski in the squad if his hamstring hasn't been 100%?
Was an accident waiting to happen. Doubtless be out for weeks again now.
