What XI and formation for Wednesday's home game?
Offline
I've not a scooby what formation it is but I would pick a team who have players who get to the bye line.
It's where goals come from.
They used to be called wingers but I think there are wingbacks too now.
Do you get wingmids as well?
Offline
Yeah I agree as it’s where most of our chances have come from in open play lately.
Offline
Not sure if we even have eleven fit senior pros for this one.
Hopefully the same backline as Saturday, I don't think any of them picked up any injuries.
Not a lot we can do either I'm midfield or up top either, Middleton and Thomson out wide for me and Trapa off the bench.
Odada I feel will start as we have another game on Sunday. Sevelj and Babunski (needs to get his finger oot) with VdS and Fotheringham up front.

Someone on the Aberdeen thread (kydteejay) made a good point about Adegboyega.
I too think he could play CDM quite easily.

I agree with you both that he could. But would you take him out of that back 3, not so sure. He's been brilliant in there.
Maybe aye if you go 433 but I'm doubting Goodwin will do that.
With Strain back I'd put Stephenson in right midfield.
352 likely again but the question being who's the 2 if Dalby doesn't make it. Canny see him starting Owen Stirton.
Could try Middleton through the middle up front with Traps on the left but it's a real headscratcher. Trying that would mean every out ball on the deck. Where's Mark Durnan 😁
Regarding Kai, I get the love for him I really do, similar hopes and love we had for Meekison Glass and Mochrie. I think Kai is the best of that bunch hence why we retained him but this is an unforgiving physical league and I'm not sure he's ready to cope with that just yet. Saying all that I hope he gets the winner on Wednesday!

I said the same thing myself the other day, although it must have been on Mad. I was bemoaning the fact that he's always the one getting taken off when we switch to a back 4, on Saturday he was replaced by a cardboard cutout when he could have comfortably moved into the middle of the park in my opinion.

I don't think Strain will be starting games just yet tbh, hope I'm wrong of course.
As for Kai, the one thing he has done that none of the other trio have done is consistently put the ball in the net and provide assists that achieved our promotion back to this division. I think he's definitely earned his opportunity to show what he can do at this level. Of course Jim sees these guys in training and obviously knows better than me why he's not given him much game time, but there's no harm in giving him a try. Miller Thomson is built like an underfed whippet btw so it can't all be about physicality

I think we will be very cautious with Strain, 15 mins on Saturday maybe 15 on Wed and possibly 30 on Sunday. Sports science will determine how much he plays.
Middleton through the middle (BTW I hope this comes back on me) not a hope in hell. It got to the point when he through on goal I don't even stand up, terrible when 1.on 1, he is doing very well right now in his favoured position.
Round pegs in round holes please. Fotheringham should start for me ,only way we will find out for sure if he's got what it takes.

I meant to type Meshak but forgot all about Van der Sand.

Adegboy was taken off on 62 mins for Odada, why was that?
I don't think Adegboy was injured.

The line-ups/formations on the media have us as a back 3 of Adegboy/Gallagher/Holt.
So 3-4-2-1 in punditspeak.
But would taking off Adegboy not leave us with a back 2?

We went from a 3-2-4-1 (for arguments sake) to a 4-4-2
Ferry and Stephenson changed to full backs from their wing back roles.

Aw that's a shame, were Ferry & Stephenson not allowed over the halfway line then?

Had a feeling you must have been taking the piss, that's why I ignored your reply the first time 🤔

What a stupid, annoying, self-inflicted defeat.

Jort Van Der Sande.
Twelve appearances.
Zero goals. Zero shots on target even.
Meanwhile a boy who scored 15 goals last season can't get a minute. Time to give Fotheringham more of a chance. He can't do any worse. Literally.

Cannot for the life of me understand the subbies the night, the wingers are our only out ball- crazy from Goodwin
Two absolutely shocking goals as well, free kick just has bad as mannys mistake- literally done the same free kick 2 mins before.
Sunday now a huge game

Offers nothing
We are absolutely crying out for a bit of pace up top, it’s killing us

Piss poor defending costing us more by the look of things.

Messy performance and a bad defeat. Losing stupid goals since big Ross has been out.
What's with this hopeless punt it high stuff when we're struggling to break teams down?
Needs a serious reset and we've got to hope Graham and Moult is back soon.

Adegboyega was left 1 on 1 with a nippy striker, should have clattered it into the Jerry Kerr but missed his clearance, guy goes in unchallenged and scores.
Crazy.

The annoying thing is Maswanhise's pace was the only thing Motherwell really had. They were pretty toothless themselves that apart.
I think we should just have went to a back 4 and moved Manny into a CDM role and tried to do a number on him miles away from our goal. As when they hit it long he was really troubling us.
We are also looking dodgy as fuck at set-pieces and cross balls. I'd like to see Walton come for a lot more crosses than he does. He's a decent Keeper but it is a part of his game that if he improved upon it would take him up a level. Paul Mathers should be working with him extensively on this.

Odada's a dud.
Van der Sande, sorry - he's an Alex Grieve replica.
Stubborn sticking with them Jim.
Manny - you'll go a long way to see him make another total fuck up like that.
I thought it strange bringing off Middleton, Trapper too.
Strain no exactly setting heather on fire though very early days.
First goal another complete f### up having played identical chipped free 2 mins earlier.
All this after looking reasonable 1st half.
Get young Miller in starting line up, fingers toes crossed for Barista's return.
Oh aye and pace come January.
