Re: United vs Hibs - Saturday 19th October

Yes the goalie made 2 howlers but we had to take advantage and we did. Okay we didn’t play brilliantly but the entire spine of the team was missing apart from the goalie. I’d take a result like this any day of the week. Keep it up united.

Next week is gonna be a far stiffer test though.

Re: United vs Hibs - Saturday 19th October

Well if ye'd telt me at 80 mins, that was gonna happen Eh wouldna believed ye.

Wisna so lang ago that we wouldna come back fae being doon.

Bad defending fir haeders cost us the twa goals.

Ye could see that things were'na working right. So Goody cheenges things, swapping things roond etc.

Seemed to me that each of the subs made a difference to the play. You would think so tae.

Didna think the Ref was biased, he jist wisna very good.

What aboot Meshack. What a neat lob.  Thought it was goin our the bar onta the tap oe the netting, but that was superb.

Didna think much oe the pitch invasion, but at least Goody joined in. FAF when he fell on his erse.

MOTM for me Middleton.

Ehm aff on the high seas till next Monday, so gonna miss the SSB gehm. But see ye ah at the Well match.

Re: United vs Hibs - Saturday 19th October

Delighted with the result, best comeback I can remember since the 3-3 Scottish Cup QF at Ibrox in 2010.

Standout performer for me was Dalby. Actually think he's been really good when he plays, links play up brilliantly. Might not be the pacey forward the fans were wanting but he's shut my pus for one. Hibs back line didn't seem to be able to handle him, finished both his chances (unfortunate that Middleton was off for the 2nd) and needed more support from the midfielders as he was holding the ball up extremely well.

Have to say that I think Holt showed why he will only do as backup in this league, felt Graham would've done much better with the 2nd goal and generally throughout the game we looked weaker defensively down our left.

Final thing, without resurrecting the other thread about Goodwin, I'd be offering JG a contract extension as a priority.

Good summary Billy, is that you off to the fjords perchance?

We hit the byeline 4 times yesterday (all from the left) & scored 4 goals, one chalked off cos Glen hadn't cut his toenails. What does that tell you? Not about cutting your toenails but about hitting the byeline.
Tapanovski's a game changer. Loved him getting thro Boyle for the 3rd goal.

Re: United vs Hibs - Saturday 19th October

We didn’t play too well yesterday but like the room is saying, the fight back was brilliant and so pleasing. Thought we were quite sluggish at the back and until the red card, Hibs were gonna win that game. Trapa once he stopped trying to cut in and just ran the line was so much better and he made that 2nd goal (with some poor keeping). Thought Big Dalby put in a shift yesterday and was unlucky not to have a double. Glenn Middleton MOTM, he was excellent. I went mental at 2-2, thought we’d rescued a point which tbh i wouldn’t of been too upset with but i looked at my watch and we had 5 mins left, i just prayed we got 1 more chance.

6 seconds story-

1 sec- That oh no feeling as it dropped to Meshack

2 sec- The chip looks like it might go over

3 sec- Oh that chip could maybe drop under

4 sec- it’s clipped the bar and bounced down

5 sec- Holy fuck

6 sec- Meshack’s become a Rory Boulding esq hero as me and the 8300 have went absolutely mental celebrating with anyone within 10 feet

Re: United vs Hibs - Saturday 19th October

Great 3 points yesterday and feel a bit sorry for the fans who left early as we won’t see many better finishes to a game than that. Wasn’t the best performance but also don’t think we had any below par players.

You might not agree but winning the toss is important. As we did yesterday. Playing downhill in the 2nd half is the key. I doubt we wouldn't have done that had we been shooting towards the Shed.
As good a 3 points at home I've seen for quite a while although the performance didn't match the resilience.

I agree, in particular yesterday as there was a wee wind at our backs in the 2nd half to further push the guys on.

Look at what it meant to Luca when he scored, he couldn't wait to celebrate with the fans, Meshack on the other hand took off like a stolen car 😀

Crazy stuff.  I thought the first 85 mins was probably our poorest performance of the season so far.  Dalby completely alone upfront with no support and we only looked dangerous those couple of time when Middleton went on both of those runs that Dalby scored from.

Fair play though, we never gave up and that’s all I want to see from a United team.

Some cameo from Meshack - first 30 seconds on the park, falls on his arse trying to flick the ball through his legs then gets booked then goes and does that!

I thought the same with regards to the 10 minutes that Meshack was on however as Gary Barlow says it only takes a minute.

That wee lob gets him into the history books with it being the latest ever goal we have scored in a 90 minutes game and forever into the memories of everyone that was there.

It was great to see a Utd striker actually getting himself attacking the crosses in the box and scoring.

He also tracked back and won the ball and subsequent free kick that got us back up the park for the equaliser
