Agree with most on here. Improved second period.

I guess this is the start og opposition managers seeing the talent trapanovski has and he was getting 2 on him at all times - first half. He was out only out ball. It was long to him which they'd worked out.

There's nothing creative in the middle - so we couldn't build up play there. Feel Babunski was wasted on the right. Had moments but his game is not to be skinning fullbacks. He needs to see the game and be allowed to make passes.

As others have said, vd sande is doing a power of work and i do see him in a similar role to Bobby formino did for Liverpool- his work make salah and mane look even better - but I do wish he'd got off the mark by now - I think he's deserving of it

An odd game in general. A 2 nil win where I felt we controlled it for large parts but equally, didn't trouble their keeper that often

Agree with most of this but we certainly didn’t control most of the game. I’m hoping Goodwin gets Doc back to full fitness (if this is possible), gets Doc and Sibbald as defensive minds and get Babunski in front of them.

Maybe not control but I never really felt any danger or thst we were being over run

Agree I'd like something more in the middle

Re: Utd Vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 24th September

10 random Sunday night points
- that was two well-matched (poor) teams waiting for the opposition to make an error
- Luca wouldn't have scored if it had been me cos he would have been off at HT (remember he was sitting on a yellow too)
- why were both the North Macs substituted, carrying niggles?
- why does Moult not start?
- how are attendances counted? 7.8k incl 1.3k farmers? Dinna think so
- that 1st half was as bad as the recent wee Derby which was the worst game I've ever seen apart from the pens
- re booing at HT, can fans not go 'Ref - Booooo' or 'Goodwin - Booooo' just so as we know
- Ferry is very good. Luca MotM? Dinna think so.
- Ross Graham's throw-ins are getting longer, first time we've ever had that as a weapon, it was nearies in the St Mirren game too
- 3 points was what it was all about, if we can beat bottom 6 sides at home we should stay up

Re: Utd Vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 24th September

Happy for us to set up like that against better teams away from home and against Rangers and Celtic at Tannadice, but where is the ambition otherwise.  As I have said before a win and a loss are probably going to be better than 2 draws so why not be a bit more risk taking?

We were dire first half.  They were the better team by a good bit.  Second half we strung one good move together against the run of play and that changed the game.  Didn't think there were any failures, but Bubunski and Trapa are simply not as effective in that formation and VDS isn't a lone striker (although he can hold the ball up decently).  For me Goodwin got out of jail on Saturday because Saints panicked after losing the goal and lost their discipline. Don't get the clamour for Moult.  If there was any evidence that we need a new striker he was it for me.  His 'pace' lasted about 5 minutes.  Finished at this level.

Re: Utd Vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 24th September

Was having a think this morning about the team

Now I’m nae genius but surely, We should be more brave with a bit more of a attacking line up, why not start

Walton
Manny Gallagher Graham
Stephenson babunski sibbald ferry
Thomson VDS trappa

Stephenson can also apparently play CDM so if we are getting over run in the middle put him in to the middle of the park and move Thomson to RWB with VDS trappa up top. We really missed having a proper out ball on the right handside on Saturday, we were getting zero joy from the left handside which was our only attacking outlet

We were getting overrun in midfield though, that's why he's changed things.  We've won both games since so it's working. It might be detrimental to our attacking play but everytime we concede a goal we will need to score twice at least to win. As the squad gels more perhaps we'll find the right balance between the two.

Re: Utd Vs St.Johnstone - Saturday 24th September

Don’t think it’s a coincidence that we have won both games when we have a defensive midfielder (Kevin ) in the team. Not sure how he’s going to line us up against better teams though as we do look out of balance on the right hand side and we will get picked off.
