Re: Summer transfer window 2024

I wouldn't be surprised if the savings on watts wages have already been spent.

Glad he's gone from the point he's not going to play and an unhappy player is a distraction to the rest.

He played his part last year but not sure he gave value for money. All the best Tony

The boy is a fucking charlatan,  should never have even thought about signing him,  I am delighted he is gone.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

I made it very clear to him immediately after Spartans last season where he should get to.  12 months later and Motherwell is not quite there but a massive step in the right direction for the club.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

What are they going to do for eggs at the Cedars?

I guess M'well will be paying no more than 20% of his wages.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

Hearing Rory MacLeod signing for Southampton.

15Ok fee - 3 year deal

Rumours that Kai Fotheringham to Crawley is happening too.

Is this from a good source?
Looking at his stats he would seem to fit the bill as hes scored goals at all age groups.

Never saw anything in MacLeod so not overly fussed.
Is Kai to Crawley a permanent deal?
I thought he might continue to make progress but it looks like some of the younger guys are better prospects than him and have put themselves ahead of him in the pecking order.

Macleod is so young he could turn into an amazing player or not. Worries me we are getting rid for such a low fee, Especially to Southampton - a club with a proven and impressive record of identifying & developing young players and selling for big profits. Must be something in the rumours of his attitude.

With the improvements Kai made last season I am really surprised we wouldn’t want to give him a year or two in the top flight to see if he can continue that trajectory. He scored a lot of goals last year for a guy who was in his first season of first team football. If he is going for 500k or more, then fair enough. But if it’s 100k to give to Tony watt for the last 6 months of his contract you can F right off…

Also - Watt did fine for us. Especially last season. Just was never worth the money we spunked on him. Wish him well as it looks like he won’t play for us again.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

Watt - played his part last season  and goes with the best wishes of many of the support. I think the championship was his level and can't see him doing much with Motherwell.

Fotheringham I hope we keep, he has instinctive positional sense which sees him in the right place at the right time more often than not.

If McLeod goes then I wish him well, I've said on another thread but there's a player in there no doubt about it.

That to me is a helluva risky signing if true.

Never played 1st team football and has had injuries.

Injury risk aside, Liverpool 2nd team is probably a lot better than our first team. Could be anything though I suppose, and it's a loan after all so not as big a gamble as Ryan" hammy"Strain

I get what you're saying, but do you remember Tim Akinola from Arsenal?  Or Kuhl who was the England under 20's (I think) captain.

Both came from a decent parent club with good reputations, but were woeful in the SPL.

Oooooohhhh yeeeeeaaaaaah!!

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

Any of these guys coming from a premiership or championship academy, will mostly be physically and technically a good bit ahead of our young lads.

But they'll have had a pretty sterile apprenticeship, nice coach trips playing v other elite academies, not many will have played in a blood and snotters Scottish football type environment.

A mate said a lot of these lads are 'scratchcards' you sign up a load, hoping you win a prize, which is a decent point. I suppose it's the same up here to an extent, but you only have to look a the likes of Chelsea who had about 43 players on loan a few years back, yet still overlooked them and continued to buy in overpriced shite.

Akinola had 45 minutes in a united shirt, not really the best example.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

I see that the utter filth across road are aiming for £1m for a boy that can agree a contract with anyone in 4 months. What an utter laughing stock they are.

Good on them, hopefully we would do the same.

If that’s what they think he is worth to the team, why sell him for any less

All Scottish teams have been taking for mugs over the years for transfer fees about time we all started demanding what players are actually worth

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

The boy McCoqan is a decent player, but he's nowhere near how they are rating him.

They'll play poker face trying to get as much as they can, as they're still pretending they're wanting to build the stadium.

Unlike the Cannonier rumour that is one who would be a very good signing, i think (despite being the same age).

Played 34 times for Barrow in League Two last season and played RWB, CDM and LB.

Liverpool fans been raving about him during pre-season, seen a couple even comparing him to a right sided Andy Robertson.

Huddersfield and Wigan also in for him. We'd do well to get him.

Re: Summer transfer window 2024

Alan Temple doesn't seem to post stuff until it's almost certainly done. Haven't read the article, but a good indication it is happening if he is on it.

Wing back on either side that can also play centre midfield is a welcome addition. 3 positions we feel light in at the moment.
