Good day out in brechin.
For me, it was purely to get boys playing but felt we did ok.
Line up/formation was...
Richards
Lwb Ferry
Cb Graham cleall-harding vicko
Rwb constable
Cm domeracki, docherty
Lm mcleod,
Rm fotheringham
St moult
Team played ok. Players often swapped positions etc. Richards coaches the defence - especially harding through the game. Ferry and constable didn't often align - Ferry was more likely to drop in line with the cbs, constable would be a good 10 yards further up the pitch.
Thought mcleod worked hard and was coming back to help defend as well as supporting the attack.
Ferry looked like he enjoys getting forward. Vicko played within himself. Did what he needed to.
Euan spark treated it like a real game and went through moult when there was no real need. Clattered a few others too.
Didn't think any of the young lads were a stand out but equally, none of them played badly.
In the second half it was pretty much a whole new team. In Newman, Gallagher holt grimshaw sibbald mwangi, middleton, o'donnell, watt and forbes.
O'donnell can put in a good ball. I liked the look of the boy forbes. Put in a shift. Was always looking for it but not a lot came off for him. Stirton has taken a stretch - some height but needs more strength. Lost a few battles against stronger opponents. Tony watt was a cut above.
Holt injured and came off for borland.
Adams got 10-15 minuted but none of the 3 keepers were rarely tested.
Good to see real fitba back. Lots of positives.
Online!
Thought Harding young centre half and odonnell were pretty good in each half probs stand outs.
Fotheringham was good also.
I feel Grimshaw played like a man who has been told he can leave, Dougie imrie was at game seen him speaking to Goodwin and then Instantly on the phone after, a return to there perhaps.
Now I know it’s only pre season and first game and he only played a half, but I feel moult was really poor however will give him benefit of doubt

I have the feeling Declan Gallagher might be un the same boat as Grimshaw, he has a year left on his deal had he'll not get a better deal than what he is on now (unless he moves abroad)

He done us a turn last season, but make no bones about him we need a new Striker.
Someone a bit different.
Delighted to hear Goodwin say we still have a number of players to recruit. Sounds like the Trapanovski work permit must be imminent because he said he might play next weekend in a friendly.

That's a bit harsh re Moult. I wasn't there but surely he wasn't 'really poor'? And 'benefit of the doubt'?! Gee thanks! Lewis Moult will lead our line this season & lead it well irrespective of who comes in or not. He has much quality.

He wasn't great and should have buried a couple of chances, including one that he was clean through but dilly dallied and got smashed in a tackle.
Would add that Rory McLeod was pretty anonymous yet again.
However, Cleal Harding was good (and looks a unit), Domeracki was decent 1st half and Lewis O'Donnell was really impressive 2nd half. He looks like he could play for the 1st team right away.
The game was a friendly after a weeks training, I'd not be reading too much into it though

I don't count fotheringham as a youngster now - perhaps thinking more of break through players.
Odonnell was decent, mwangi was buzzing about and the lad forbes was happy to try to take on a player.
Don't think there's any of them I'd want to play in tye first game of tye season but equally, you could see 3 or 4 of them being bedded in.

Thought Ferry looked skilful and very good technically, the Croat boy looked solid. O'Donnell looked very good too.
As said, first game after a weeks training so we can't take much out of it, its was a fitness exercise.
