My recollections of that game are similar to what Malpas said. We were well beaten on the night by the better team , nothing to do with dodgy/corrupt refereeing.

Luggy said the same. Doesn't take anything away from the fact they offered the ref cash though,and the fucking disgusting behaviour of their players. Hate Roma more than any other team,and that's saying something!

Have never watched it back, we got to watch it in school such was the enormity of the occasion.
We''ll never know if the ref actually took a bribe, but the behaviour of Roma around the whole tie was cunty.
Maybe on the day they never needed the refs help, but it was there to call on if needed.
