Over 75 years ago as a primary school laddie living in 13 Sandeman Street I chose to follow the fortunes of Dundee United. Over a lot of years I was regarded by my pals at Clepington School as a bit of an oddball because they were mainly supporters of what was at that time, and for quite a number of years later, the city's "big team." I was often mocked and derided which was painful but I stuck with it, secure in the belief that things would get better. And they did. Jim Maclean took care of that! And United remained the big team until the present day. For the last 20 years I have been unable to physically attend home games due to ill health and no longer domiciled in the city of my birth. But I maintained high interest in "my" team. However, things have changed again. My health has deteriorated more, as has the health of my beloved club. I find now that the current situation is causing distress to the extent that I need to be careful of my blood pressure. It is with deep regret that for the sake of my welfare I have decided to call it a day. I am leaving the forums, resigning my DUSF membership, Many factors have brought this about, the ineptness of the owners, the board, the succession of poor managers, and above all the negative quality of the players. I feel for the thousands of fans who put their money toward their support of our once-great team. Good luck to you all, I hope your dreams may be realised......

Not a bad judge. Though I barely let it affect me any more, been watching like a neutral for weeks now.
Take it easy old timer!

Well orcajun friend. It's a bizarre coincidence that the guy who I've sat next to for 22 years is hanging up his football boots this Season too.
He's 91 now and he's struggling to walk or balance for a while, and so this will be his last Season in attendance. Been supporting United since 1946 if I'm correct.
Whatever your plans are, I wish you well, and many more years of following United.

Some very very good Arabs on this board and in our support in general. Shamefully let down by a piss poor bunch of so called professional footballers.
Take care guys, health is always more important, but hopefully we will come charging back next season and repay those who have given so much.

Though there is 3 decades between us in life experience, we have a lot in common in terms of our High school experience.
I went to a large (and rough) High School with well over 1,000 pupils. At least 99.99% of those were Glasgow Rangers supporters and this was during the 9 in a row years when they were an absolute monster.
I too was ridiculed for being a Utd supporter (unsurprisingly the only one in the entire school). Though i got an iota of revenge in May '94.
It wasn't easy at times though. So, i totally understand what you went through in that time and you have my admiration for sticking with DUFC.
Take care of yourself Ian. Been good to talk to you in private over the years and i wish you and your Wife all the best health and memories in your twilight years.
All the best,
Gordon
