Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Darren Watson following in the footsteps of goodie and Russell by joining Forfar on loan. Hopefully, has the same impact on him as it did for those 2.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Here it is- quick Google.

inland men’s national soccer goalkeeper Carljohan Eriksson has been awarded as the best goalkeeper in the Swedish Allsvenskan League in the 2021 season

TEK. Totally agree with you. Ccx seemed to be putting the blame on erikksons failure at Tannadice at the door of big tone....when intact, he signed a current international who was keeper of the year in his league.

So if you sign the international San Marino goalkeeper, who is keeper of the year in the San Marino pub league then that justification for giving him a contract.

What about scouting?

There's none, that's why we are trying to punt him and Niskanen. Just because they are current internationals means the square root of fuck all if they represent Finland.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

But we aren't talking about San Marino, are we. We are talking about 2 internationals - 1 from the Swedish league and 1 from the Finnish league which are both pretty comparable to the Scottish one (outwith the OF).

every transfer is a gamble. The signs were clearly there that they were decent players but it just hasn't worked out.

Do you think we didn't scout the players in question? Does big tone get credit for ant good players we sign or only get abuse for the ones that don't work out?

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Confirmed, Ericsson off to Denmark on loan the rest of the season, hopefully this means a new keeper in.

Does he deserve credit for doing his job? Does he deserve criticism for getting it wrong, absolutely.

No I don't think for one minute that we send scouts to Sweden, Finland, Australia,  Argentina, USA etc and if we did I wouldn't mind there air miles.

Big Tone 🤣

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

The management must think we have the players to push on up the division and only a wee bit of wheeling and dealing is needed.  Not something i agree with. A bit of wages have been freed up with a few players going out on loan. A lot of clubs seem to be leaving it pretty late this window. A shite window to do business though

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Cannae believe that, it can't be true.

We are joint second bottom of the league and a couple of weeks ago we were told we would only bring in players that will improve the squad. How hard can it be to improve the 2nd worst performing squad in the division?

We need to strengthen in the goalkeeper position,  doesn't need to be first choice as the Aussie seems to have finally settled down but he still needs back up.

We need a CM with a bit of dig, these guys ain't as hard to find as a 20 goal a season striker. Get one in FFS.

We can't go into the second half of the season hoping that Fletcher doesn't get injured with only McLeod as back up. What is the latest with Tony Watt, is he now staying?

I also think we need to get competition for the right wing back position to challenge Freeman.

Guys to be shown the door- Pawlett, Niskanen and Watt.

I hope I am wrong but we should be double busy the month getting dead wood out and fresh blood in to improve our shocker of a league position.

Meekison away to Falkirk on loan

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Fuchs is frozen out at Peterborough, not even making the bench these days. And he’s suddenly started liking all of United’s instagram posts. Might just be putting 2+2 together and getting 5, but might be something in it.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Meekinson away to Falkirk on loan

Hopefully will get to play full time and develop, rather than grabbing a few minutes here and there

Oops - too late.

Usually I'm dead against former players returning however he exactly the type of player we need.

Would we be getting a fit and hungry Jeando though🤔

I agree, these boys need game time and Fox clearly doesn't fancy the lad.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

We also need a better right sided centre half. Preferably one who can pass the ball better than Liam Smith (ie anybody).

Too much commotion

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

It's more important that we don't lose any of our better players.
If anyone comes in hopefully RWB to replace Freeman, don't like focusing on one player but he is IMO murder.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Thread

Miller Thomson supposedly going to stenhousemuir on loan.

Still not even a rumour of anyone incoming.

I think if Watt leaves (which is looking unlikely now) we will sign a striker, otherwise I’m starting to think we’ll make no signings this window.
