Fulham Link

Can anychunt tell me what if any benefit we've got from this?

I mean, it sounds like a great PR exercise, but other than that?

Re: Fulham Link

American Pakistani owner, who owns other sports franchises, like Ogren (accept the Pakistani bit). Plenty of scope for middlemen, advisors and consultants.

Re: Fulham Link

It was asked at the SLG meeting. This was the minutes of the response:

Luigi Capuano gave an insight into the clubs relationship with Fulham and the part that plays in our overall revenue increasing strategy, and said it highlighted that we do a lot of good work off the park.

Like everything else, the minutes say fuck all.

Re: Fulham Link

From all I've heard it's a brilliant opportunity to share best practice on matters such as training and nutrition, tap into each others scouting networks, and facilitate reciprocal staff visits.

It doesn't cost anything, it raises the profile of the club, I'm all for it.

At the time it was reported that it had very little to do with loaning players and was more about coaching etc, just don't get why folk are het up about it. I've wasted zero seconds on the subject personally.

Re: Fulham Link

obviously this was just to benefit the coaches

Re: Fulham Link

If it was to benefit the coaches, they're no very good at learning then.  We seem to be somehow less than the sum of our parts even taking into account the poor recruitment.

To me this is all part of the Sporting Director's 'Masters'' tick box.  Sure it probably does no harm, but unless it is actually doing some good it is a waste of resource/time.  If we are all about raising the profile of our club by hitching our wagon to an English Premiership/Championship yoyo team (for no tangible gain) it just shows how far we've been allowed to fall.  Focus needs to be on things that give us tangible benefit on the park (either right now (preferable) or in time) anything else is just bullshit bingo distraction.

Re: Fulham Link

Surely just another 'reason' to hate on big T? (I spend half my life saying I'm not a big fan of his BUT we can't just make stuff up.)

We have had coaches leave for the premiership and top championship clubs - so clearly we do have good coaches.

The whole ethos of the club is built around taking staff in (players and coaches), training them up and moving them on... the link up with Fulham has in part, helped with that.

Haven't we sent players down for training there too?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

So, we're using it to try and punt our young players for a cheap bit of silver.

Sounds about right.
