Maybe he has asked? What do you actually think someone from Utd would say if they asked? No Comment. simple as that.
And actually, Asghar spoke about Neilson at Ross' unveiling. There was an article about it.
People too hung up about the club finances. It's Ogrens money and it's entirely his choice what he does with it. What difference does it make to any one of us whether the club gets a fee for Neilson or not? Unless it's landing in my back pocket I couldn't give a flying fuck, as I said it's Ogrens money. As for Butcher, does anyone actually think that any club anywhere in the world would make their internal club disciplinary procedure common knowledge? Get real folks. Reporters asking difficult questions will, as you rightly pointed out, be told fuck all.
are you serious ?

Yes, will you see any of the money yourself?

To be fair to ADS he is consistent. He has always separated the financial health of the club from the product on the park. Ogren losing money through negligence or otherwise doesn't seem to bother him. He's obviously confident that Ogren has deep pockets and a similar love for success at all costs.

Maybe you'd prefer to be still languishing in the fizzy league? Ogrens deep pockets are the only reason we are where we are. I'm grateful for every penny he's put into the club, but my question still remains, what difference will it make to any one of us if we do or don't receive a fee? Only one person will feel the hit and he's not the one griping about it.

Point missed as per. The point being that Ogren’s pockets aren’t endless. Wasting money isn’t going to make him happy. So we should be concerned as if he pulls the plug we’re stuffed. We should be delighted that he’s supported the club, but he’s made it clear he expects a return…

No but you have missed mine so let me put it another way. What good can possibly come from making the clubs financial transactions public knowledge? Why do the club have to answer questions about their finances in the press? Would you? Fans demanding this need a look at themselves in my opinion.

But as ADS says, that doesn't mean we have the right to demand the club publicise details of their finances (beyond the required accounts).

I am well aware of your point and to an extent I agree with it. There is no compulsion on any business to do their dirty washing in public and generally I don't think they should. Your point was however, why should any of us be interested in the finances. If we have screwed up the Neilson deal I think it is absolutely in every fan's interest that we know why. Ogren has the deep pockets, but the fans are also essential in keeping any club going - as covid has shown things wouldn't last very long if people stopped turning up. I personally want to know that my club is being run well financially - in the current climate, that is just as important to me as some of the signings we are making. Clubs that don't look after their finances will have a limited shelf life.

This is obviously correct! ADS says we don't need to be interested in the finances though! Also, whilst there are limited statutory disclosure requirements, where there is good stewardship there should be no reason to be reasonably open with what is going on in any business. Indeed that encourages investors. I'm not suggesting that means disclose everything, but being more open will do more good than harm. Re. Neilson for example, I think it is totally acceptable to keep schtoom until the matter plays out in tribunal or otherwise. Of course that means we might never know. However, if someone has lost us a 6 figure sum out of incompetence then there should be implications. Similarly I am sure we'll hear about it if we are proved to be right here...

I think if the club was officially going to a tribunal the papers would get hold of it. The fact we have not heard a peep would suggest we have fucked up.

I don't think you can jump to that conclusion, but clearly someone thinks we haven't complied with the rules.

when these kind of things have happened in the past, the papers are all over it. Hearts have said there is not a case to answer. TA made an unofficial comment at some fan meeting but was that just to save face ? If we were serious and knowing how TA is with Scott burns and the press, we would know about it alright

So it's best to assume united dropped the ball than it is to assume there's either nothing to tell or it's part of a legal process, ergo nothing should be said.
United, to give them their due have pretty much stopped whoever used to spill every detail to the papers and I'm happy with that.

Back to the football and Utd lost 1-0 to Port Vale in Spain earlier today.
Apparently created little and Eriksson made a few saves.
We need 3/4 in the door in the next week. A Goalie obviously and 2 or 3 other attacking players.

Heard today (rumour) that we offered Zander Clark 4K a week and he knocked back.
Apparently Flood and Jackie Mac both advised him to take it as it was his only offer.

Fair play to the manager here telling it straight. Big change from the piss taking shite we were fed by Courts and Mellon.

Similar to Stephen O'Donnell looking for his big money move, rejected a few good offers hoping for more and ended up at Motherwell probably on a lot less money than some offered all because he over valued himself.

As per.
... I'd go further and say it's sometimes (much tho' we don't like it) in our own best interests not to know .

noticed folk are quick to get their knickers in a twist on here
Friendlies are designed to work out systems, check out youngsters progress, play trialists etc etc etc results and scoreline do not matter, anyone getting hung up on friendly results really need to follow another sport.
As for Ogren, he's invested in the business that is Dundee Utd, money comes in to the club from various means not just transfers. Sponsorship, tv deals, hospitality, room rentals, season tickets, advertising and merchandise to name a few.
Ogren making the club more attractive on and off the pitch is how he makes money, he's clearly doing that and whether he gets full returns now or in future is none of our business.
What is our business is the returns we get for our investment and that is based on what happens on the pitch, watching pur team's passion and commitment to come from behind against County and get 4th is what matters, not beating Port Vale in a friendly certainly does not.

The finances matter to us if the club is badly run and the end game there is Ogren deciding to cut his losses. The club is only surviving at the moment because of Ogren's deep pockets and he is a long way from receiving any meaningful return on his investment. So if we are not becoming sustainable there is a chance we stop existing. That is not impossible and that is my main concern on finances. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that we are run on a financially sound basis.
Pre-season results are meaningless. The same obvious missing parts of the team are not.

Heard a wee rumour that we're offering him to Hamilton as part of a deal to not have to pay compo to them for signing the boy Jamie Hamilton. Pinch of salt though to be honest.
