A contract extension for Ryan Edwards would complete an excellent week

Ross Graham as well. He has 2 years left, give him another 2 years and a vice captain role.

I wonder why, have Hearts for all their bluster got it wrong about no compensation being due.

If they were that confident then surely they would not be afraid of taking it to a tribunal that would then throw Uniteds compensation case out.

So if there no compensation claim is nonsense and they have to pay up then no wonder they want to stay clear of a tribunal.

Has to be minimum £200,000 using Telfer as a precedent.

Re: New contracts

That's a great point and one I'm sure we will refer to if it does indeed go that way....

Re: New contracts

Telfer won't he used as a precedent. That was a bizarre outlier, but there are many contemporary examples with a much lower fee.

These things are notoriously hard to judge, but he has never been a first team regular (partly due to injury) and also hasn't played under-21 football.

My guesstimate is between £80,000 and £150,000. The clubs will probably settle for an undisclosed fee though in a face saving exercise for all parties, and we'll never know.

Can you explain why Telfer is a bizarre outlier? There's always a belief that the OF get the rub of the green in every decision - why would his case not establish a precident?

Just because the specific situation. A lower league player with one club appearance and no international caps at any level was valued at £200,000. It was so ridiculous it had never happened before and has never happened again.

For that reason it can't be used as a precedent because it was frankly bonkers.
