I can guarantee that Steven Fletcher signing for United will not add a single fan to the away attendance on the 16 July at Tannadice ffs!!!

Talk that Hamilton from, er, Hamilton has either signed or is very close to signing.
Rumours that Zander Clark won’t be joining.
McGrath we are trying for but don’t think it’s imminent

Meanwhile, United’s Twitter is worth a wee look just now…

Yeah I completely dismissed it a couple weeks ago, well done to everyone involved in getting this over the line.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Our biggest signing in years IMO.
Time to dig out that passport, Dylan's coming on our Euro tour.
Credit to everyone at the club but also to the fans. I imagine the fact that Dylan AND his family have been made to feel so at home played a major part in his decision.

Fucking quality bit of business from the club today. 2 signings in the door of a very high quality. 3 counting Harkes but I'd still say we are needing:
1x GK
1x CB (right sided)
2x CM (at least one defensive mid)
1x pacy winger
1x pacy striker (or Shanks)

Still sceptical about Fletcher myself but Dylan Levitt is an astounding bit of business and is only going to get better, buzzing with this news!

Spot-on.

Levitt, wonderful signing, good call eariler re permanent deal.
Fletcher, no so sure.
Job half done.
Still need width + now relying on Jack to tailor a striker from what we've got. We've something to work on meantime anyway. Still need a bit of cover for when Mulgrew's injured.
Surely we'll get Watt more central ?
Realistically while I'd love to see list as per fer LEK post above, suspect there'll be two mebbe three max to follow as TA plays hardball to end of silly season ?

Decent day yesterday from the club and no doubt it wasn't easy agreeing the deal with Manchester United with regards to negotiating sell on clauses.
But young Levitt is officially a Shed Boy so well done all.
Not really sold on Fletcher if I am honest but that only due to his age but he will offer invaluable experience to the up and coming young strikers at the club on the training ground.
I agree with LEKs list above with a wide man and GK the next priorities.
Ideally Zander Clark is on the plane this weekend.

Worth noting, if levitt gets called up to the wales team for the World Cup, we will be paid 150,000-170,000 by fifa, doesn’t have to play a minute either

The Levitt deal...WOW...to get him on a 2 year contract has to be great business....not getting the uncertainty with Fletcher, think he is the rugged line leading number 9 we've been crying out for..

Credit where it is due, that has to be a great bit of business for the club. Hopefully Dylan has a great season and that when he goes he makes us some much needed cash. I'm also positive about the Fletcher signing. He'll know his game well (like Mulgrew) and I think that outside the old firm he'll be up against defenders that he should be able to boss. Clearly his age is an issue, but I am of the view that the core of the team through the middle needs experience if we are to play more and more youngsters. When he was at Hibs, he and the shoplifter looked the real deal. I think he can make a good partnership with Watt if he's still got the legs.
I also think the Levitt coup bodes well for encouraging other players to come to Tannadice. I think we should be taking a good look at boys who hope to be able to join Dylan in the Welsh squad and get them up to Tannadice - there must be a few.
Now back to type. As others have said, we are running out of time to bring in the other players we need. For me that is quality cover for our 'new' goalie, Centre half cover as Mulgrew won't play a whole season (the boy Hamilton mentioned ticks that box), a left sided defender (maybe Duffy?), two defensive midfielders (Gogic would be one, but I think we need back up there too with McDonald and presumably Butcher off), at least one winger with pace (I'd like to see two) and also a younger striker or two who can learn from Fletcher and Watt but also inevitably to cover Fletcher who won't play the whole season either. I don't see us bringing in all of those, maybe 3 or 4, but I think 3 or 4 will only help us stand still unless they are quality.
Levitt was worth waiting for but so much more work to do. McGrath would be an amazing addition, although I can see that one going to the wire. Clearly Shankland back would be welcomed, but I am not sure we can afford to drop the cash Beerschot are due us for that one and maybe best that he goes elsewhere (although don't want him at Hearts). Also he doesn't have pace and I think that is the one thing that we absolutely must get into this team.

Happy with both signings, more need to and will follow.
On a side note - 2 things were cleared up 1) big t wasn't waiting for a picture to massage his own ego seeing as Levitt was announced at night time.
2) levitts mum made the effort to mention big t's efforts in getting the deal done. It doesn't make him an awesome human being but was clearly instrumental in getting a Welsh international to leave man United for dundee united - he's maybe not the pantomime villain people have him down as
Either way - let's get 3 or 4 more in the door and be ready for europe

A goalkeeper and winger must be priority now.
Then we can start to feel really confident in this team.

Picture I saw had TA sitting alongside Dylan when signing. To be fair my comment was more to encourage them not to wait for the big reveal with smiling Tony and just get on with it - glad they took my advice.
Pleased he's got a fan in DL's Mum - not surprised that he can charm the ladies - to be fair though, keeping players and families happy is a good trait. He does appear to keep the players happy which is important - maybe not the managers though!!
Truth be told, my opinion of TA was formed some time ago on meeting the man (briefly) and seeing him in action and I wasn't impressed, totally the opposite. In my view he's done more to support that negative view since than the opposite, but he has, whatever way you look at it had success on the park (even if it was eye-bleeding to watch). For me, if he can keep that success going (and by that I mean keeping us top six and qualifying for Europe most years) whilst managing Ogren in terms of the financial position then I'll have to grow to accept him. I still don't think he is nearly as good as he thinks he is but if he can keep my club where it belongs, in a sustainable fashion, then he'll get my appreciation.

It wasn't aimed at anybody in particular but appreciate your response.
We all want the same thing - an entertaining, reasonably successful team... how we go about it, I'm sure we all differ with.
Anyways - this is a transfer thread... so here's 1 that I don't think would ever happen but I'd love.... and there's no grounds for ever thinking it would happen ... Ben Foster
Good keeper and great PR for the club with his successful podcasts. Loves a cycle too - if he can get to the top of the law on a bmx, sign him up

I was bumping my gums about the Tony shot so assumed it was me you were commenting on - was a fair comment though. Now if there is a position that we can go for an older player it is surely the keeper and Foster's 39 so fits our target age group!!
