New Home and Away kits

And possibly a 3rd (European) strip.

Any idea when we are due to see them revealed?

Re: New Home and Away kits

Also, do we still have Macron/Eden Mill on the shirts next season?

Re: New Home and Away kits

Far as I know we will still be with Macron, not sure about sponsorship. Presume it will still be the usual end of June/Start of July for the kit reveal. Been that way for a few years now.

Having 3 kits would be likely again. Although I hope they don't make it limited edition like this seasons 3rd kit. Think the club missed a trick there especially since we ended up using that kit more than the away kit.

Re: New Home and Away kits

Eden Mill was a 2 year sponsorship deal so will be on the shirts again next season.

They haven't produced a bad strip for us. In fact a few have been belters.

Been our best kit manufacturer since Asics imo.

Re: New Home and Away kits

QuinnCasino are going to be new shirt sponsors for next season. No word on dates though.

Re: New Home and Away kits

Thoughts on the new sponsor guys? I think as a principle sponsor QuinnCasino and United will work really well together, the club can certainly help grow their brand in the UK market, and aesthetically their branding is a great fit with ours.

Love to hear the views of others.

Re: New Home and Away kits

I'm not as bothered as some other Utd fans if our kit sponsor is a betting company.

Can see perhaps a seperate kit sponsor for European football (and a different kit).

Re: New Home and Away kits

Would normally get my kids a new top (both now adult size - don't think gambling firm will go on the kids strips?) but won't buy them advertising gambling.  Hope the deal financially compensates for those with higher moral standards.  I appreciate that Eden Mill was alcohol, and I had my reservations there, but ultimately decided as that was a premium (and local) brand it was probably not encouraging the masses...

I am however very much against gambling.

Interested to hear why AU thinks that the branding link-up is 'aesthetically' pleasing.  Their logo is partly orange which is going to look pretty naff on tangerine.

Agreed. Some of the comments on Twitter are unreal. I take it they would want everything connected with gambling removed from Tannadice? If gambling is a problem for some people I can’t see how United having a firm on their top would change that. Obesity is a huge huge problem in the UK and beyond yet McDonalds adverts are everywhere in football, as is Coca-Cola. Might as well stamp out every single advert that promotes or coincides with a bad lifestyle.

Good post JA.

I still pine for us to have Belhaven back on our shirts.

Nothing on a Utd shirt is honestly gonna drive someone into an addiction. You get there because of other, far more powerful circumstances (poverty, boredom, bad home life, depression, etc etc).

Re: New Home and Away kits

With respect, I disagree.

If shirt sponsorship of gambling companies has no effect on peoples behaviour, then why are gambling companies forking out billions to sponsor football? It’s a bit like arguing that tobacco sponsorship of F1 30 years ago did not encourage teenagers to smoke.

Has anyone every watched a young child watching his Dad play a fruit machine in a pub? To a child it looks like a toy which dishes out money. The addiction can occur passively.

55,000 children in the UK are addicted to gambling. How did they start?

These ACCA ads, in my opinion, should not appear before 9pm. The sight of Jermaine Jenas and other celebrity footballers promoting this as fun is plainly wrong.

Gambling addiction has the highest suicide rate of any addition. There were 650 gambling related suicides in the UK in 2020

Exactly. Some folk have willpower some don't. If someone is gonna gamble then they are gonna gamble, it won't matter a fuck what it says on a football shirt. I've been watching football all my life and I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what it says on any given teams shirt other than Uniteds and that's only cos its hanging in my wardrobe

Re: New Home and Away kits

I totally understand why people aren't bothered about this.  I also understand that it is difficult to say an alcohol sponsorship is different from gambling.  However, if it was a cigarette brand I think most people would object.  I think these things do ask us to question our moral standards.  I want my club to be a true community club that puts caring for the community on a level playing field with success on the park.  I think football can be a beacon in our communities for doing things the right way and supporting people who need support.  I don't think that necessarily means that we can't take revenue from gambling (plenty bookies in football grounds), although I would prefer we didn't,  but I think it is totally different when people like AU are talking about aligning our brand with the Quinn brand and hoping to help them grow their revenue etc.  (not sure if he is on the inside, but beginning to think he must be (which given some other comments is truly worrying)).

Gambling and poverty go hand in hand.  Look at any community in Scotland that is down on its luck and you'll find a bookie on their high street ahead of other much needed amenities.  At least with a bookie someone local gets a job and its a place to meet like minded punters.  Online gambling is just another way of stripping cash out of communities without giving them anything in return.

People say it is all personal choice, but any society, community, (or dare I say football club) will be judged on how it looks after the weaker in its society, community or support.  The more I think about this, the more I object.

Re: New Home and Away kits

By far the biggest problem in society is obesity
50% of kids and rising are overweight. weight related issue are by far the biggest financial issue for the NHS , costing the taxpayer billions. Obesity is killing Scotland
Alcohol & gambling addiction are relative side shows compared to this.
When I said I didn't care what was on the shirts I should maybe add as long as it's not a fast food logo.

Can't argue with that.

Re: New Home and Away kits

Rumour is the new home strip is inspired by season 82/83.

Re: New Home and Away kits

I'd be disappointed if the new shirt turns out to be a cracker, inspired by 82-83, and it has a gambling company logo on it. I'm with Macbonzo and Finn on advertising gambling on our shirts.
I was looking for sources of research funding for my lab years ago, and the Head of the Department asked me if I would accept funding from a tobacco company. He seemed surprised when I said "Not in a million years - I'd rather close my lab down".
Advertising alcohol can be criticised for similar reasons, but at least with Belhaven and Eden Mill, we were promoting local companies and therefore supporting local jobs and the local economy.

Re: New Home and Away kits

Bel haven and Eden Mill still produce alcohol. Whether that’s local or not it’s still alcohol at the end of the day.  People will bet online whether United have it on their kit or not and I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t bet will start betting because of it.
