no dont think so, I think he will stick to the same formation and still have smith in Midfield with Clarke and Mcnulty upfront

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

If Watt is unavailable I would bring Mcmann in to release Niskassen further forward.

We can't win games 0-0

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Benji

Smith
Edwards
Mulgrew
McMann

Butch
McDonald

Mochrie
Harkes
Niskanen

McNulty or Clark

I don’t expect Watt or Levitt back but here’s hoping. We need 3 pts tomorrow so let’s go at them ffs but we all know he’ll play a back 5 and hope for a 0-0.

Not really, looks like Butcher back to center half where he helped keep 4 straight clean sheets. Mulgrew injured again by the look of things anyway.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Wisna at the gehm the day. Seek bug. So thought I would just watch the gehm on VST Pass.

Unfortunately, didna manage to get it working till the start oe the 2nd half so was only able to listen to the 1st half on Sportsound. So canna say anything much aboot the 1st half.

Shitey start to the gehm was it no. Shoulda been scoring, and instead Herts get a goal.

Cracking control and finish fae Smith for oor equaliser. Excellent Penalty taken beh Clark.

Think that McDonald is still struggling we challenges but he made 1 or 2 no bad passes.

We get the odd break and we dinna seem to get anything fae it. We dinna seem to be able to capitalise on opportunities, breaks etc. It nearly always ends in a damp squib.

Collum is as useless as ever. Thon Hacking Halkett shoulda been aff. Dirty B@stard goes and scores.
Looks like we now need to baet the Midden and the BNBs to get any chance oe tap 6.

MOTM for me Liam Smith

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

After being completely up against it in the first 20m the team showed a great level of determination and a bit of skill to get a draw.

Unusually there were a number of candidates for MOM  Smith looks every inch a CM
Graham , solid again  as was Butcher also one of Harkes better games.
I'm going for Lewis Neilson even though he only played about 60m  for me one of the best performances from a youngster since we went down.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Thought Neilson did well when he came on, looks a bit better defensively now.

MOTM probably Smith just shading Butcher due to his excellent goal

Collum is a fucking idiot

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

One other thing that's getting meh goat up.

That 1 goal has moved us from 4th to phuckin 7th.

And it's more phuckin irksome that the team that's above us in 6th now is Ross County. Ross phuckin County ! They b@sttards were sittin 2nd bottom no so lang ago.

If we dinna get oor haeds oot oor @rse, we might be going in that direction shortly.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Incredibly frustrating to have went in the lead for the 4th Premiership game in a row, and for the 4th Premiership game in a row, not have subsequently won the match.

Hearts had incredible bad luck today with 5 of their players going off injured (never seen anything like that before), John Souttar going off in particular should have been the catalyst for Utd really going for Hearts throat and getting the 3rd goal.

In the end we sit back too much and they inevitably equalise.

This mentality 100% stems from Courts.

It's why i simply can't take to him, regardless of league position.

There are days for suffocating a game and there are other days you have to just go for the throat and go out on your shield whatever the end result. Today was a day for the latter, but our game plan is always the former.

Winning even one of these past 4 games would have had us sitting in that Euro spot tonight.

Start showing some balls TC.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

I know top 6 is still possible as is 4th.  But have to agree with a lot of posters on here our inability to close out a game when in the lead is so frustrating.

Lets be honest with our early season form we should be a comfortable 4th at this stage of the season.  The buck has to stop somewhere and while we can blame the players they don't pick themselves or set the tactics.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Hearts 2nd goal felt like a loss yesterday, was a tough one to take. I thought we were gonna do the brilliant turnaround and get even closer to Europe and the top 6.

Butcher even turned to ET stand to calm down as we were winning. Stemmed from the crowds frustration at Benji for being slow to release the ball and thereby quickly counter attack.

Agree with all of this.

Holding on to a lead is near impossible, it’s ridiculous

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

Yep - when we went 2-1 up they looked demoralised and we had them where we wanted.   Then we proceeded to sit back and let them have the ball, build up momentum.  I could understand that if we were in trouble and every point was a prisoner but surely we are safe from relegation and the play-off now?  So just go for it FFS.

Re: Utd v Hearts - 5/3/22

2 wins in 16 is absolutely horrendous, hearts were completely there for the taking on Saturday

Saturday was only the 5th time this season in league we’ve scored more than one goal in a league game, we are awful going forward- slow and predictable

Recruitment has been a shambles attacking wise and that’s on Tony

I agree but I make it 6 games we’ve scored 2 or more

Hibs away 3-0
Herts away 2-5
Motherwell home 2-1
Motherwell home 2-0
County home 2-1
Hearts home 2-2

You are correct.

And only once this season have we scored 3 in a league game.

Dundee Utd. A Top 6 Scottish side.

Saturday was a chance to rectify that at 2-1. We instead went defensive as a team. Our subsequent 'attacks' were very much on the counter.

We can all handle defeat. But it's far more palatable to accept when you know your side has went all out to get the win on the day.

I rarely feel that with Utd at Full Time anymore.
