Chris Mochrie and Lewis Neilson close to signing new deals until 2024, according to Scott Burns.
Think that leaves the following out of contract this summer:
Benji
Sporle
Harkes
McDonald
Hoti
Biamou
Plus end of loan for McNulty, Akinola and Levitt
Can see McDonald extending his deal if he feels ok and is contributing, expect the rest will leave

Dylan Levitt's Manchester Utd contract up in June 2022.
If they don't offer him a new deal he should be our No.1 signing target.
He will of course have other suitors, i'm sure. But we must really push the boat out in pursuit of him.
We are talking about a lad who could potentially be in Wales World Cup squad later this year. His sell-on value could be huge, not to mention what he actually offers us on the pitch.

We all know the situation with Benji and Biamou
Hoti - not sure he had done enough to warrant anew contract
Sporle - Again not sure we have seen enough to offer him a new contract
Harkes - Strange one as not heard anything about being in discussions on a new contract and seems odd not to at least offer a contract to someone that you play every week.
McDonald - short term deal and hope he does extend but may get more lucrative offers.

Harkes has said he's in discussions with the club, i actually think he's done ok this season but still wouldnt be too upset if he goes think he could easily be replace

If we haven't developed younger players good enough to displace Hoti and Sporle the club are doing something way wrong with the Academy. I wouldn't be adverse to extending Harkes - as you say he plays every week and we don't seem to have a replacement just yet. In any case I still think we can get a fee for him if we can stay in the right half of the table. McDonald - early doors yet. Given what he has said I'd be disappointed if we didn't have first refusal on him for next season - maybe even an option if we've agreed a sensible short term contract...!

I hope we can get a deal sorted for McDonald as I'm sure all the young midfielders we have would benefit massively from having him at the club whilst he is still better than anybody else we have at the club in that position.

Hoti and Sporle , difficult to justify as really have not seen enough from them
See how McDonald progresses but looking hopeful.
Hope we keep Harkes, I like him but seems to split opinion amongst Arabs.

Agreed, hope we can tie Harkes up to a new deal.
TIN HAT ON.
I don't quite get the Levitt love-in.
Yeah he's good and will definitely develop but is he currently any better than the under-loved Harkes?
I don't think so.

Harkes is probably a bit under appreciated by sections of our support, granted (myself included).
But let's get things in perspective here.
One is 27 next month (Harkes).
The other is 21. On the books of the World's biggest football club, and could potentially play in a World Cup this year (after already appearing in a Euro's last Summer).
The potential of the two to Dundee Utd and what they could bring over the next 2/3 years is not comparable.

Agreed.
Not only that but chances of us holding on to Levitt are zero to zilch.
Whereas Harkes, tho' sometimes anonymous some days, he's in good company.
It's taken him long enough but overall I'd say is still learning Scottish game, technically good player, enjoying the group, and integral to the team.
We play him every week so we're no goin to let him go.
If I'm not mistaken Mrs. Harksey still plays for Celtic ladies so he'd be bending over backwards.
.... More to the point its a new striker we should be worrying about.

Harkes is becoming the new Davy chicken legs Robertson. He never appears to do much in any game but pops ups with some important goals.
Worth keeping but not worth a big contract

I'm not sure about keeping Harkes , on one hand he has played some really good games but they have been few and far between and I don't know if keeping him will hinder the development of the likes of Mochrie, Meekison etc.

100% it is, same with Clarke. Its thinking about the here and now and not long term.
Let me explain further. The problem with Harkes is you cant play him WITH the young players as he's not strong enough to cope with that. He needs backup himself if he plays (rather like a young player) thats why he is hindering their development he is essentially taking a novis's spot on the team if that makes sence.

I've seen about a dozen of Dylan's games and tbh I'm not quite getting World Cup.
I mean he's not looking any better or any worse than our other midfielders.
And, broader issue, should we not be developing our own?
Like a current Killie loanee maybe?

He is developing whilst on loan, or would be if he wasn't injured again. Glass by name and by nature possibly?

IMO the young Midfielders and forwards at our club have not had a fair crack at the whip for whatever reason

Perhaps the coaching staff don't feel they are ready yet? I'm no expert but I do think the coaching staff who work day in day out with the players are best placed to decide on how they develop and whether they are ready or not.

Yeah I think so. Easy to forget he’s still only 18. Hopefully gets a few games before the end of this season.

Genuinely can’t believe he’s 18, seems like he’s been around for years

I have to give the club (and yes, Tony Asghar) a lot of credit on this occasion.
I said months ago that Dylan Levitt absolutely had to be our No.1 Summer target. But i felt our chances of getting him were probably quite low to be honest. To have gotten him signed up for two years is a fantastic coup for the club.
Rumour going about that the fee was actually only 100k btw ,but with add-on's (30% sell-on fee). If true, unbelievable business.
We'll get half of that back if he goes to the World Cup.
