But it's OK for people to start slagging our players off on here calling them a liability etc? Butcher getting written off and yet he's worked his arse off for the badge. In no way defending the ridiculous behaviour of the fan in question and he is now up on a charge and will no doubt be banned from Tannadice in the near future. But I'm fed up of hearing players getting written off by people with short memories.
Get a grip eh?
It's a DUFC forum. The whole point is to give opinions on all things Utd related, including players performances etc.
I don't have a 'short memory' regards Utd. Quite the opposite in fact and i have seen Butcher being a liability for us going back years now, due to his indiscipline in big games. He's not even offering anything on the pitch anymore aside from that.

He's been sent off 3 times in his whole United career as far as I can remember, hardly a liability. I've a firm grip so no need to get out of your pram, but ripping our own players and digs at the club seem to be a theme with yourself.

I simply say things as i see them. Good or bad. Always have done. Don't post to offend anyone or purposely come across as contrary, but also don't post to be liked or just blindly go along with the popular opinion if i don't agree with it.
Hardly 'ripping into' the club for the sake of it.
p.s. you are under no obligation to read my posts of course, if you don't like them.

I'm with Tek here. We can't have an experienced player so blatantly getting himself sent off. What he did cannot be condoned. One thing being a hard man and not shirking tackles and being the enforcer on the park. Another thing going around flicking genitals - don't remember that ever being part of a training session. Embarrassing.
FWIW I do think Butcher has been a good servant for the club, but he's at the stage now when he needs to concentrate on his game (which is not that great at the moment) instead of thinking he's some sort of hard man. He's given Courts a very easy decision on whether to fit him into the team or not - FWIW I bet he feels a bit of a dick for his antics (pardon the pun)

I don't agree with writing Butcher off, he's been decent for us on this 2nd spell......but Saturday was a fckn joke red card, right under the ref's nose, WTF was he thinking.......
Also he would be getting ripped a new one even more if the clown in our crowd hadn't shoved their player and got him sent off.....

Just found Scotland v England 1972 on youtube. Absolutely fucking magic used to love football like that. Modern refereeing would have seen that game 6v6 by half time.
Now sadly a flick of the genitals is an automatic red card. Football has changed and not for the better IMO.

Nah, wide of the mark here. There is a common phrase of a thing being below the belt, unacceptable. There is a reason for that. No place for that in sport. Suspect it was a spur of the moment thing, but totally out of order in my view.

did Gazza get pulled up for the classic nut grab on Vinny Jones?

As im sure your aware below the belt comes from the Queensbury rules and refers to taking a right hook in the nether regions. Which is totally unnaceptable (below the belt). Even in the modern game surely Butchers stupidity wouldnt be deemed as a blow.
Ive just heard the clown on STV news call it a punch🤦♂️WTF is happening to the world.

He would indeed. If it wasn't for the Ojo incident we would have really struggled with 10 men and would probably only drew (at best).
Arabdownsouth said he has only been sent off 3 times for Utd. Well you can chalk it up as 4 really because Paul Paton was mistakenly given one that should have went Butchers way in the 1-1 Scottish Cup draw against Celtic in 2015.
He's also had countless yellows in matches earlier on in the match that have seen him walk a tightrope the rest of the match.
He's at the stage of his career now (30) where he should be a leader and someone the younger players look up to like they do Charlie Mulgrew.
Not a liability at times, who can cost us.

I'm well aware of the origins of the phrase. But I don't think the ferocity of the hit is in question and sometimes a 'glancing' blow in that region is just as bad. He just shouldn't be doing it - it is totally unnecessary - he may as well have punched him in he puss - i'd have more time for that. Noted that it is being blown out of proportion though.

Couldn't have expected anything less. What was he thinking about - assuming that's a process he's capable of.

Decent turn out in the home end.
Overall around 5k paying punters,
Maybe a mixture of fans keen to TCs terrors and attending their first Aberdeen match for 6years.
