Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

Must be the same starting XI as Hibs on Saturday, after that result (injury permitting)?

or

Bring Dylan Levitt back into the starting XI if he's available?

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

I'm going to stick my neck out & say CHALMERS gets a starting place.
At who's expense tho is Tam's problem because they're all undropable at the mo.
Got to keep ticking on, got to keep improving....

Chalmers hasn't been on the pitch since his return from injury so best he will get is a few minutes off the bench I'd say.

Chalmers a prodigious talent to getting splinters.
His time will come.

Quite remarkably both teams will wear their away kits tomorrow.

Courts has form for throwing in a surprise selection so it's hard to predict. Some folk think "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but my gut feeling is that we need to have a squad of 18 match-fit lads who are playing well, heading into the winter, and resting one or two lads who are playing well (i.e. having them on the bench) is a more positive move than waiting until someone loses form and then having to make a change. So I can see a change or two from last week. Levitt back in for Deco would be one, but not sure who else. The players who might benefit most from a wee break are probably Fuchs, Harkes and Edwards, but I'm not going to predict that any of them might be left out for what will be a tough game.
Think I've just argued myself in a circle. Strongest available team. Levitt in for Deco, no other changes.

Liking your thoughts Canadian even as you say you don't go with them in the end
Yes, the policy of keeping the same XI til you get a bad result lacks ingenuity. It's what I was alluding to in my Chalmers post, you need to be more inventive, need to be ticking on, kicking on, need to be always improving.

So.. the same XI tomorrow

Anyone else had the Whatsapp footage of Chalmers goal against Raith the other day? Fuck me, that boy has natural ability.

Time for him to start showing it regularly.

Yeah as i said its was a screamer, problem for him is he is a bit of a 1 trick pony, he can only play wide left cut in with that shot, teams will wise up to that the more he plays.

He actually had a couple of other really good moments in the first half but gives the ball away and awful lot and tries silly little flicks at the wrong times (perhaps the reason he isnt getting in ? )

Max played 55 mins and looks like the hold the ball up, link other players type of forward we need.

Mochrie played central midfield and strolled it, would love to see him play that role in the first team

Meekison had a good shot that hit the bar.

Appere got a goal but was very poor kept giving the ball away and forcing it.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

Happy with the 3 points but the team was a bit flat today and didn't really create much. Played some decent football at times but not enough. Would like to see the penalty incident again as where I was sitting it looked like Benji won the ball.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

A hard won victory today against a very direct Motherwell side.
Still we're far from a great side but each week we look like a well organised and highly motivated side.

Explaination is required how Clancy thought that the full length dive with an outstretched arm from the Well LB was not a 2nd booking for deliberate handball, he saw the incident as we were awarded the free kick from which we then scored.

Chuft as phuck we the result. But we made it very difficult for ourselves.

As BMT says we were flat as a pancake for large parts oe the gehm, and this just drove Motherwell on.

Brilliant run fae Mulgrew doon the right, and Edwards finishes are becoming almost predictable!

Looked like a saft Penalty to me but hae to wait to see a replay. Did Benji catch the boy in the nut instead oe the ba.

Great response fae the boys. Class ba inta the box to Edwards and Mulgrew's kung-fu kick to get it in.

Clowncy the Ref. Say no more.

Early days yet but Top Cat's dae'in a no bad joab so far.

MOTM for me Benji coz he saved oor bacon a few times.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

just watched highlights, for the penalty, there is one replay from behind the goal that shows that the Siegrist and the Motherwell player go for ball at same time, ball comes off the Motherwell players head and then Siegrists fist collides with his head very shortly after that.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

Great win against a good Premiership side who got a 1-1 draw at Ibrox just a month ago.

Edwards & Mulgrew are the best Centre Half pairing we've had in many, many years.

We've been crying out for a 'Leader' in the Utd team for a long time. We now have two and not only are they seemingly trying to push the team forward (literally), but the rest of the team seemingly respect them and are raising their game/s accordingly.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

Was a weird game, we passed the ball around brilliantly at times but then there were spells when we couldnae pass water.  Thought that was Levitt's poorest game for us so far, particularly in the 1st half.

But great work rate again and fighting for each other- Niskanen - I honestly thought we'd signed a dud the way he played against the funsters,  I was so so wrong about him, ran his socks off and was a threat when he had the ball too.  Mulgrew and Edwards - brilliant.

Tough game on that shite pitch on Wednesday now and with Livi starting to come onto a game.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

It's easy to say but last season we wouldn't have got the winning goal.
But there's a belief about the players now & it's growing every game.
Tam's Team. Tam's Terrors.

More chants v the Fermers please, TCTA.

Re: Utd V's 'Well - Saturday 23rd October

We could mention Benji every week, one amazing stop in particular at vital stage in game.
McMann always steady.
Mulgrew class - as usual, think he'll keep going as long as he wants - toatally strolls it + he's bringing the best out in Edwards who was shackled by the diddies he had around him last year. Great defensive pairing + always a threatgoing forward as are McMann Freeman.
Thought Levitt had a good game - accurate passer another steady influence.
Niskanen - what Slateford says.
No mistake they were a challenge, Alexander thought out his game plan well. These wins will keep us there or thereabouts.
Shame about the pen - more often than not these go against forward.
Be interesting to see lineup v Livingston.
