This is true and it is also what gives me the most fear about our current regime.  Fuchs has been the exception to the rule.  He is the one that I thought they had got it right with and that we would sell him on for £2/3M.  Maybe they will but I don't see them being as lucky again on the recruitment front.  Shanks was a no brainer recruitment, but we have only realised a very small return on him due to the mess the club was in last year.

When are we going to learn from the likes of St Johnstone how to manage our club with any level of financial astuteness?

On the running of the club, when you get 2 managerial appointments in a row correct, good things happen (Levein > Houston). Can't disagree with any of that to be fair, other than I think St J have done exceptionally well over the last dozen years culminating in three cup wins and I think that they are pretty well shaped to continue as a Prem team for the foreseeable.  Some going for a club that gets 2,500 home fans.  It doesn't make our mismanagement any easier knowing that the Perth bunch might be stuck with mid-table mediocrity whilst we conspire for another stint in the league of fun.

Nothing i've said above is anything revelatory.

A good section of the support were discussing it as far back as late Spring.

It was all 'rumours' at the time, of course. But all the big talking points have came to fruition. So no surprise to hear this news today.

Fwiw i think replacing Fuchs is an easier task than replacing Shankland. But we'll see.

Kind of looks that way.  If McNulty ends up at Tranmere get re-arranging your deck chair.  We clearly needed boys out the door before we got any in.  Makes giving boys like Pawlett long term contracts highly questionable.

Am i right in thinking that the last player we actually paid money for was Charlie Telfer ?

I seriously doubt we’d be paying McNulty’s wages if MO was  “starting the fire sale”,  “got cold feet”  or are looking to “get out”.

See Sam Cosgrove has went out to Shrewsbury on loan. Would have been a cracking loan.

Anybody know if mcnulty is a loan or termination of contract?

not sure if that was meant directly for me or a general point.... Cosgrove had some record at the Dons and is an absolute unit. As for McNulty - heir apparent to the No 9 shirt (I know Shanks didn't wear No 9), I'm a bit MEH about it. Will probably do a job up top in his favoured position but doubt he will set the heather alight either.

As a rundown and ignoring manager/youth departures.... we are currently at:

Out Shankland, McMullan, Deniz, King, Powers (Loans: McNulty, Doohan, Bolton)

No.  Good business would have been not to have brought them to Tannadice in the first place.

McNulty is in his last year on his Reading contract so does need to have a good season to ensure getting a gig the following season.  Not sure that he'll be any less prolific than Shankland last season and without a creative midfielder I think he'll be doing very well to get to double figures.
