Re: Summer Transfer Window

The McNulty deal leaves me feeling cold.

So, say we had McNulty, Shankland, Clark and Appere as the forwards. That's the same quartet we had to pick from last season and we finished lowest scorers, even struggling to score against part time teams.

Now, they all could (obviously) score more if we create better chances. But (to me) that leaves a lot of pressure on the Finnish boy to be the man to create chances galore. As every other player was at the club last season i.e. Pawlett, Chalmers, Sporle etc.

I really wanted a different type of Forward as i find Shankland, McNulty and Clark all too similiar in style.

I can only hope we get a different type in if Shankland departs (which is looking more and more likely).

If the plan is to sell Shankland and only replace him with McNulty. Then we are in big trouble. Really hope that isn't the plan.

Chalmers was injured and barely featured last season, not really fair to include him in the mix. Perhaps he might make the difference when he gets the opportunity.

He didn't play much last season, you're right (only 16 appearances in total, either starting or off bench).

And i do think he has something, but not convinced he has much cutting edge to his game yet or will be a guy who will create chances galore for forwards.

But if the above is the plan, i can only hope it works. But i am dubious.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Scott Burns confirming Niskasen would need a work permit/visa from the Home Office.

Surely won't take as long as the Kawashima one? Surely

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Bit of a rumour brewing from Killie supporters that they're away to sign Nicky Clark.

Surely the club must have investigated this by now given we were chasing him last summer too. If there were likely to be any issues then they ought to be fully aware by now you'd think.

There was also someone on one of the forums saying Shankland is off this weekend and won't be in the squad tomorrow. Looking very much like 5-5-0 tomorrow then 😂

Not that it will make any difference of course

Re: Summer Transfer Window

A tranmere fan posted this on EF about McNulty

=15pxTranmere end we are told that the deal is agreed between us and Reading but the EFL want him to be released rather than the loan which is agreed between the clubs. The issue is that Reading cannot afford to pay him off and we cannot afford his full wages.

=15pxHe has expressed he wants to come and work with Micky again though

=15pxI think it will happen and he will join us unless you pay a much higher wage percentage than us or take him on permanently

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Thanks for your service Lawrence and best of luck in Belgium 👍

If we were going to lose him then this is absolutely the best possible outcome.

Now let's get adding some real quality please Tam 👍

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Brilliant money if it’s anywhere near that. Sure it will be lots of add ons if that figure is close so hopefully they are realistic.

If there’s every time to sell your best player from a morale point of view it’s after you’ve just ended the league winners long unbeaten run with out him.

He looks like he needs and wants a fresh start. I’m happy to see where strengthening on a number of fronts helps to take the team to. Best of luck to the lad and will keep an eye out.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

wonder if more bids will be received now teams know our valuation.

If he goes hope he does well and we get the add ons when he gets his next move

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Good luck to the lad, one of the best Strikers I've seen at the club. As a player he gave his all and worked his arse off and that's all as a fan you can ask.

Scored some cracking goals and almost single handily got us up.

Big boots to fill and I have no confidence that the DoF will.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

spot on, if we are to get in loan players make it older boys who are not getting a game, a Greg Stewart,  Mcnulty

Is this the same DoF that signed him???

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Aye its him.

You didn't need to have an eye for a player to spot Shankland, see the Ayr game where he scored 4.

Hopefully we don't squader it on another Bingham, Adam King, Camm Smith, Osman Sow or Aiden Nisbet type.

Anyway fingers crossed we invest it wisely.

I think his point is how many other clubs also spotted him scoring circa 60 goals in 2 seasons including 4 against us but still managing to recruit him in the Scottish championship.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Niskanen on the bench tonight for his team in the German Cup.  Any deal for him can’t be that imminent despite fee and contract apparently having been agreed.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Aye that's his point, my point/hope is that he gets it right and doesn't squander cash on another Osman Soo type.

Let's keep our fingers crossed TA gets it right.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Shanklands move is really the right move at the right time for all parties.
A good opportunity for Shankland to earn more and try a new culture.
For Utd it's good money for a player in the last year of his contract  who is really unproven at the top level

Thanks for your efforts Lawrence, you will be remembered as the man whose goals got us out of league two.
