Freeman? Why?

Seems to have become a forgetten man tbh, sent him to Peterhead when we only had very young Lewis Neilson as a backup RB. Assuming Neilson, Graham, Smith and Cooney all remain at United I don't see where Freeman fits.

Yeah. Not so sure that will be the outcome though. He played 90 mins every week for Peterhead and got rave reviews. I think they let him go on Loan because at his age (20) he'd still not played first team football regularly from being down South. The fact we had Neilson and Bolton still here made it possible. By all accounts this loan move has been great for him and he'll be coming back in the summer a much better player. He also played all across the back 4 as well as holding midfield during his time up there. In terms of comparisons to others, I reckon come pre-season he'll be considered first choice backup to Liam Smith for the RB slot and also a serious option for backup LB if Robson is out. He appears to have all the attributes to be a decent player for us. I also thought he looked alright in his couple of appearances for us this season.

Quite possibly, you obviously have viewed the loan very different me in terms of his return. I'll be happy to see him back in the fold if so, for me it's becoming a bit of a numbers game, if he's in the squad then you've got to assume someone else from that list is going to be moved on. Or at best, put out on loan themselves.

Any time I saw him he looked decent. But it wasnt too often. I'm sure the club will have been watching him closely.

Strongly hope Mellon stays.

IN: 2 very pacey Wingers,
a 'number 10',
a GK (possibly 2)
Target Man

Out: Appere, Meekison, Graham, Glass (All
Loans till January)
Siegrist, Deniz, Freeman, McNulty,
Harkes, Powers, McMullan.

Harkes probably unlikely since Mellon apparently loves him.

Thought Deniz still had at least a year on his contract?

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Should also add.

Had heard Utd had been offered Sidney Van Hoijdonk, Striker with NAC Breda on loan about a year ago. But it never happened, for whatever reason.

Well, he is not out of contract this Summer.

One to watch.

If he's not out of contract, I'm not sure we would be watching him at all.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

He was rumoured to be close to signing for Nottingham Forest in January but Brexit rules scuppered it. Seems to be highly rated. Maybe out of our reach.

Hahaha too early in the morning for me 😋

Wary of Dutch players with famous surnames personally 😂 I remember Rodney, who turned out to be a right plonker!

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Malky McKay off to the Hielands.
That Roy McGregor has deep, deep pockets.
Potentially represents an improved team in the Prem & we don't need that.

Very interested to see the impact he has on the team and the calibre of players he can attract. Here's what you could have won type scenario potentially arising.

If he does well and our next manager doesn't, it's another stick to beat the decision-makers with.

No surprises there.

I'm probably in the minority but i quite liked Powers. Calm on the ball and a good passer.

Had a lot of time for Powers. If a Championship club go for him I reckon he would shine in that league given a run of a games.

Always though Powers had a bit of a raw deal at us. He was getting up to speed and championship ended then was never really given a sniff in the prem. Thought with that little bit more time and space he could have been a strong player for us in the prem. He definitely stood out on the ball for me, didnt rush and could pick a pass.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

I wonder if that was a factor in him getting the last couple of games as a chance to see him in action ahead of any possible swap and cash deal with Celtic.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Being honest, I think Benji will definitely regret going to the Tims massively.

Best going down south and hope he gets a good gig down there.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Anyone got any idea if there is any truth to the latest rumour going around.

Charlie Mulgrew to United on a 2 year deal is what the rumour is.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Was mentioned here a week or two ago but no idea in the truth of it. At 35 on a 2 year deal it would be another gamble...but if he's on the edge of the scotland squad he must have something left in the tank

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Summer Transfer Window

Think I noticed that then but never treated it as being serious due to his age.

Got that wrong if the current rumour about him is accurate.

He is just not good enough smed
He still makes the same mistakes he did 5yrs ago, when to get tight or sit of his man, his crossing remains very poor, consistently gets ragdolled in physical challenges, is pish in the air( watch some of the goals we lost directly from corners this year and see who was meant to be marking the scorer)..
He needs replaced if we want to improve.
