Just to share on here, last night the Dundee United Supporters Foundation shared via their social media that they have now hit 1,400 members. This has risen quite a lot in the past couple of months which is great to see. Hopefully the numbers continue to rise and the membership can hit 2,000 before long.

Positive publicity is driving the increase in membership I would say. The club asked for help and the members almost unanimously voted for that to happen.
Falling out with officials at the club, looking for shares or talk of club lanyards has to be a thing of the past.
Can I just add that the guys running it are all talented lads, totally committed, totally trustworthy & very democratic with excellent communication. I look upon my membership as being like a secondary season card. Would be beilliant to have 2,000 members by start of season 21/22 when, fingers crossed, we're allowed in - how good a feeling will that be?!

Nothing wrong with looking for shares.

Is there anyway of knowing what monthly amounts are paid in? I pay mine and trust them to do the right thing but amount of memberships is only half the information. Would be good to know what the monthly contributions are looking like.

You find me an Investor who's willing to put in 200k (so far), with no say on how it's spent, in return for zero assets. Shares, and frankly anything else the club owns, should be on the table. Certainly when things return to normality.

I suppose it all depends on how you look at it. I'm all for donating some of my cash in the club. I don't see it as an investment, I'm not looking to gain anything from it .
Having total control where the donations are spent is possible without becoming a shareholder.
Who owns what in terms of shares is just an area for supporters groups to fall out.
I don't know the guys who run the foundation however not everyone gets involved in supporters groups for the correct reasons

All that info will be in their accounts and probably shared at the agm?

Was it ever confirmed that shares were actually asked for???
As for putting in lots of money with no return, that equals fan.....
DUSF Update #78 in the in-box today, their communication is good.
Anyway the good news is we have hit the 1,500 membership.
The update goes on to say that this number has doubled in 4 months.
And that DUSF kicked off 43 months ago.
So in the first 39 months the recruitment was 750 members.
But in the last 4 months 750 new members enrolled.
So, basically, recruitment in just the last 4 months has increased near 10-fold.
Can't be just the owner & the manager joining that has caused the membership to double.
And we're not exactly competing for a European place in out first season back up.
Could it be a lot of us are stuck at home & not out there spending money?
Anyway here's to the membership hitting the 2k barrier.
Btw Foundation of Hearts appears to have about 8,000 members. They've been going 5 years.

I think most of our fans are just about reasonable enough to temper their expectations this season, and recognise that Ogren has been true to his word (thus far) about his willingness to invest in United's. Albeit, he's motivated for profit reasons but that's another discussion I guess...
It's great to see more fans come on board with the Foundation, I think that despite the team being a bit lacking this season on the park, entertainment wise anyway, no one in our supports wants to see the financial situation force us back in to the Championship and that's the cause of the growth in membership. I think we can ALL agree that somewhat turgid premiership football is much more enjoyable than the absolute nightmare of the Championship.
I don't want to go back to Alloa EVER again!

Will Mr Ogren refund the foundation if he eventually makes a profit?

It's comments like that which still makes me hesitant to join the foundation.
Hopefully that's not the view of the members.
If I join it's purely a donation to Dundee United I'm not looking for anything back or any caveats, that where self interests starts to cause unease.
I hope Mr Ogren does make a profit when he leaves and I'll thank him for putting his money in when he desperately needed it

If he makes a profit from United then it stands to reason he'll have given Dundee United supporters plenty of things to celebrate so in my eyes that would be a very strange thing to happen. I can't imagine the Foundation guys are looking to get money back at any point as its all about helping the club. As a member, if a vote came out to take money back from the Club, I'd vote against. The point of DUSF is to help the club. So Ogren giving money back to DUSF makes zero sense. I put my money in each month with the purpose that it ends up in the hands of Dundee United.

Once we are out of Covid and back to normal, every pound the Foundation hand over to United to help with operating costs is a pound less Oggy needs to invest, so an extra pound in his profit if he sells up after a couple of big player sales (which is the only way he makes a profit).
That's all fair enough it that's what people are wanting to do with their money.

I'm of the opinion he wont sell up after a couple of big player sales to be honest. Are you?

This is why future investment, like the initial investment DUSF put in, will be linked to some other bricks and mortar investment in to Dundee United. The money at the moment isn't tied to bricks and mortar investment in the club as Covid has wrecked the clubs finances, hence the extension given for the initial investment.
Tieing investment to such projects assures the Club in the long term, after Ogrens departure whenever that may be, continues to reap the benefits of fan investment via DUSF. The club get money in return for investment in club infrastructure that benefits United long term. Its not a matter of limiting Ogrens operational costs.

Ask yourself where United would be right now without Mark Ogren and his substantial investment, I guarantee you won't enjoy the answer.
